Rhaenyra Targaryen sat in the garden of her childhood home, with bright sunshine blinding her eyes.
Behind her, her mother, Aemma Targaryen braided her long silver hair. Her family has been in possesion of such unique feature hundreds of generations back and Rhaenyra was happy for her ancestors inbreeding ways as she marveled at the beautiful hair color she got out of it. Perhaps, it was ungodly of her, but she could not care less. In her world, gods meant little when you had as much money, as her family did. They were the gods.
Her father, Viserys Targaryen wished to stray from such practise, as he became more and more involved in the ways of the people around them, despite having married his cousin himself. The old chairman cared way too much for the public opinion and was way too soft to fight the publics disapproval.
Rhaenyra closed her eyes, letting the bright sunrays hit her face, only to be brought back by the sound of a childs laughter.
"Mother! Sister! Look how high it flies!" yelled the little boy, flying a kite.
Rhaenyra felt a wide smile spread on her face and warmth in her chest at the sight of the little boy running around, his silver hair flowing beautifully in the wind behind him.
His hair had been a debate in their family, with Rhaenyra's mother saying a child will be uncomfortable with such long hair and should not grow it out. Both Rhaenyra and her father coveted the traditional look of Targaryen men. That of at least shoulder lenght hair. Little Baelon was the one who had the last word, as he liked the long hair and promised to look after it properly with the help of his sister. The hair, albeit, was not even that long, falling a couple centimetres lower than the boys shoulder.
"Careful, Baelon! Don't trip over." said Aemma, somewhat strictly.
"I will not, mommy." yelled the boy, as he ran even faster.
The two women kept watching the boy of five running around, jumping over the kites that layed on the ground, careful not to trip on them.
"So... I have seen another post on TMZ about you and Criston..." said her mother and Rhaenyra groaned at the beautifully peaceful moment being ruined by her mother prodding into her personal life. She stayed silent, deciding not to encourage her mother to speak further.
"I thought, you said there was nothing serious between the two of you and even that was over. But now you are on the news..." said Aemma, waiting for explanation. Rhaenyra sighed, before deciding to explain everything to her mother once and for all, so that she does not ask anymore. Her mother let go of the braid she finished and Rhaenyra turned around to face her. The two women were sitting on a blanket on the grass.
"Criston and I were nothing serious and I did not even want to get into this mess, because we have the same circle of friends and he is close to Alicent. But he would not give up, even when I told him I was not looking for anything serious and wouldn't be able to give him what he wanted. He said, he would be fine being casual, which we were, until he started playing the jealous boyfriend and I told him it was over. He, however, won't let this go and now it's a circus." she said, pouting. Her mother stayed silent for a couple of seconds, looking serious, before speaking.
"Rhaenyra, I do not mean to put preassure on you, but when I was your age, I was already married and had you. Yet, you do not even wish to try to start a relationship. You are 24 years old and you've never brought a boyfriend home! We only learn of them through gossip sites and it seems, they change faster then seasons!" says her mother, slightly raising her voice and Rhaenyra feels a headache starting.
