For as long as I can remember, or least can remember, I worked as a Master Detective. Also when I said that I can at least remember, I mean I don't remember anything from my past. But I wasn't alone, I have a spirit that's actually haunting me. His name is Shiki, and what he told me is that he's a Death God and he's not the only one, he said there's another Death God who's extremely clingily with him but was relieved to get away from her. I always wondered what he looked like in a human form, but he told me I'll know one of these days. Due to my forte, I was assigned on missions such as healing team or sneaking around in the shadows.
One day, I was summoned to WDO HQ. When I got to the building, I entered the elevator that leads to director's office and I felt really nervous
'Why am I here?! What does the director want to talk to me about?! Did I do something wrong?! Am I being fired?!' I thought to myself while freaking out
"You need to calm down, mistress" Shiki said as he appeared next to me
"I can't help it. It's not everyday I get to see the director unless I did something wrong or I'm about to get fired!" I exclaimed and the elevator dinged "Looks like I'm here..."
"Don't worry, mistress. Whatever happens, I'll stay by your side no matter what" Shiki said and I smiled as I finally calmed down
"Thanks Shiki. Ever since I met you, you always know how to calm me down" I said
"Of course. As you told me when we first met, I'm your first friend after losing your memories" Shiki said "Now, shake off the nervousness and hear what the director to talk about with you"
"Right!" I said and the elevator's door started to open. I took a deep breath and walked forward to the director's office. When I got close to the doors, I knocked on the doors
"Enter" A man's voice said and I opened the door. In front me was a desk and chair looking away from the entrance, and his office doesn't have much stuff either
'Guess the rumor is true that the director doesn't have that much stuff in his office' I thought
"You wanted to see me, sir?" I asked
"Yes. See the envelope that's sitting on the desk?" The director asked
I looked down at the desk and I saw the envelope. I picked it up from the desk
"I have a mission for you. In the envelope it shows the context of your mission. Read it and you'll know more once you reach your destination. You may go" The director said
"Y-Yes sir!" I said as I left the office
When I left the WDO HQ, I decided to read the letter
"Notice - World Detective Organization: Human Resources
Dear Marie Rosehearts. You are hereby dispatched to the Special Autonomous Zone of Kanai Ward. Dispatch Duration: Indefinite
Use the enclosed ticket to board the Amaterasu Express to Kanai Ward. Rendezvous with the Master Detective on-site
Upon arrival, proceed to the Nocturnal Detective Agency World Detective Organization Kanai Ward Branch.
There you will receive further instructions
Go forth, proud detectives. Eliminate all mysteries from the this world"
After reading the letter, I was a bit confused
"Kanai Ward? Isn't that the city that had cut off from the rest of the world? I wonder what they want me there for?" I asked myself
"Who knows. I suggest you get packing. The ticket says the train departs tomorrow at 10 am" Shiki said
