“Well, you really do had a twin,” she revealed which made me stop. “But it’s impossible that he’s still alive.” Napasimangot ito. “There was a big fire at that hospital and both of you were in the nursery. We hurried there to save you, but unfortunately, only you were able to be saved.”
“M-my twin died? Mom, what if he’s alive? Is there a chance that he’s alive?” sunod-sunod kong tanong. Naiiyak na rin ako, hoping that my twin is still alive. But I lose hope when she shook her head.
“Na-recover namin ang katawan niya. We’ve confirmed that it’s him,” nalulungkot nitong saad. “We’re so sorry for keeping this to you, sweetie. I was diagnosed with depression and the doctor advised to forget about that… your twin, because it will just worsen my condition.” Tumango-tango ako. “No one spoke a word about this in the family until you brought it up today.”
Yumakap ako kay mom nang maramdamang nalulungkot ito. “I’m so sorry for asking, mom,” paumanhin ko. “I just got so curious. I was thinking that maybe Tobias is my twin. Really sorry, mom, you know that I’m always like this.”
“It’s okay, sweetie, you deserve to know the truth,” she said and smiled at me. Napatingin naman siya sa harap at hinawakan ang kamay ko. “Oh, Doctor Santiago is already here. Let’s go na.”
Hapon na kami nakauwi ni mom dahil nag-shopping pa kami pagkatapos. Wave is already there when we got home, but he only greeted mom. Mabuti at hindi napansin ni mom ang cold treatment sa’kin ni Wave. Ayaw ko pa naman ma interrogate dahil hindi ko naman alam ang isasagot ko kapag nagtanong siya.
Dumiretso muna ako sa kwarto ni kuya at kumatok doon. Binuksan naman niya agad ang pinto at taka akong tiningnan. Agaran ko siyang niyakap na ikinagulat nito.
“Looks like my little princess got a problem,” he said and caressed my hair. “Tell kuya what it’s all about. Is it about boys? Did someone broke your heart?”
Umiling ako at tiningala siya habang nakayakap pa rin sa kanya. “May kambal pala ako?” mahina kong tanong. Kagaya ng reaksyon ni mom ay nagulat din ito at hindi agad nakapag-react. “Mom already told me everything. Kuya, kawawa naman ‘yung kambal ko.”
“Don’t tell mom what I’m about to tell you, okay?” he said. Wala sa sarili naman akong tumango. He sighed before speaking. “He’s alive. Your twin is alive. I just don’t know where he is right now, but I’m sure he is alive.”
My lips parted in shock. “W-what?” May alam si kuya Zievo. B-buhay ang twinnie ko.
“Mom thought he was dead, but he’s not,” sagot nito. “Dad actually saved Zywon when the hospital was burned, but he was baby-napped. I was with Dad who was carrying Zywon when a van stopped near us. They took all the babies from the parents. Dad fought for Zywon, but he was shot which caused him to lose Zywon.”
Zywon. So, he’s alive. There’s a high possibility that Tobias is Zywon. He could be my twin!
After hearing everything, I went back to my room. Naabutan kong nagsusulat si Wave sa study table. He took a glance at me for a while before turning his gaze back on what he’s doing. Naalala ko bigla na kailangan ko palang makipagkita kay kuya Lucas para kunin ang hinihingi kong files sa kanya. Pero maggagabi na.
Nagpalit lang ako ng pajama at plain white t-shirt bago ako humarap kay Wave. Magpapasama nalang ako sa kanya. “Uhm, Wave, pwede mo ba akong—“ Napatigil ako sa pagsasalita nang magsuot ito ng headset sa dalawang tainga niya, totally ignoring me. Kinagat ko ang ibabang labi ko nang maramdamang parang iiyak ako. “N-Nevermind…”
Agad akong tumalikod sa kanya at kinuha ang cap ko sa gilid bago lumabas ng kwarto. Tuluyan na ngang tumulo ang mga luha ko kaya agad ko naman itong pinunasan sabay buntong-hininga. Sakto namang pagbaba ko ay nakita ko sina mom at dad na nanunuod ulit ng movie sa sala. I rushed towards them and hugged them. I don’t know why, but I just felt like I want to hug them.
