Neytiri would give the first signal so Aha'ri waited, knocking an arrow and lining up a shot so she'd be ready.

Surely enough, a couple of seconds later, an arrow flew in from above, hitting the soldier holding Kiri right in the head. Aha'ri wasted no time and shot the soldier holding Lurei. Not with as much ruthless accuracy but lethal nonetheless. There was a split second where Lurei made eye contact with Aha'ri from below before she started to run away. The split second before terrifying gunfire erupted below, but thankfully the gunfire was targeted at Aha'ri and Neytiri and not at the kids.

Aha'ri knocked another arrow and followed the sound of gunfire to another soldier, placing them in the clearing before even getting to see them. Quickly, Aha'ri peeked around the trunk and shot her arrow toward the soldier, hitting them straight in the chest.

The tree trunk took most of the bullets, spraying wood chips inches from her face. All she could do was stay in place.

Then the gunfire stopped and a voice yelled out from below, "Is that you Mrs. Sully? I recognize your calling card."

Aha'ri's English was very poor so she could just barely understand what the man was saying.

"Come on out Mrs. Sully. You and I have some unfinished business."

"Demon!" Neytiri yelled back from across the clearing. "I will kill you as many times as I have to."

"Looks like you and the colonel have been busy haven't you? Dropped yourself a whole litter. Half breeds."

From this angle, Aha'ri could see the man yelling out to Neytiri. She watched him give the same kind of hand signals Jake used to direct his soldiers to where Neytiri was in the trees. Aha'ri had to get over there before the soldiers could get a shot on her.

She weaved through vines and hopped from branch to branch to the other side of the clearing where she saw Neteyam sneaking up behind the unsuspecting soldier. He was wielding an axe similar to the one his father had, using the pointed back to silently take down the threat to his mother.

The pure precision of his movements left Aha'ri in awe, with her mouth slightly agape as she watched Neteyam work. She knew he was a good fighter but she'd never seen him in his element like this.

Aha'ri jumped down from her spot in the trees and landed next to him as he yanked the pointed end of his axe from the dead soldier's neck. "Remind me to never get between you and your sisters," she whispered.

Neteyam stood up straight, turning to scoff at her joke when his eyes went wide; looking at something over Aha'ri's shoulder. Before she could turn around, he threw his axe; hitting a soldier square in the head. As their knee hit the ground, the avatar soldier's finger twitched, causing their gun to fire a couple of rounds before they slumped to the ground. This of course alerted the other soldier in the clearing to where Aha'ri and Neteyam stood frozen with fear.

This was it, Aha'ri thought. This is where she will die. At least she would've been saving her sister. Hopefully, she made it out safely. Hopefully, she was with Jake and Neytiri far away from these monsters—whoever they were.

No. No, Aha'ri move. Get out of there! Her muscles wouldn't move and time stood still. She wasn't going to go out like this. There was still time to flee.

Her eyes flicked to a soldier how had a particularly large gun who screamed something before aiming the gun at the two of them. Neteyam. Neteyam still stand there next to her. She had to do something; if not for her, then for him.

She snapped her gaze to the dead soldier at her feet, with Neteyam's axe still in their skull. Aha'ri grabbed the axe, ripped it from the grip of bone, and spun to dive out of the way of gunfire. As she dove, she took Neteyam with her and they landed with a thud behind the cover of a tree. Thank the Mother for that tree.
