I finally arrived at Kate's. It's a big nice house with a big spacious backyard. I climb out of my car and slowly walk up to the front door…I wait a minute or so before knocking and then I knock and step back debating running away…again. But that’s not me anymore I’m not that Quinn, she is gone and I plan to keep her away. “GIVE ME A SECOND!” I hear Kate yell from somewhere close to the door, then I hear Sawyer, their little girl, say something about a pretty lady at the door. Suddenly Kate swings open the door smiling. “Hey! I wasn’t expecting you…The house is a mess, I’m a mess, and I still haven’t heard from Dan. I know that being a Bodyguard at a club you work for a while without using your phone but…I mean I’m getting a little worried.” She laughs and waves her hand. “Eh don’t listen to me it’s nothing, anyways what’s up? Where’s Chris?” I realize now I never told her or Dan about Chris. “Kate…I’m sorry…” I pause for a while gathering the right words for this and I struggle because there really isn’t a right word to tell a spouse her husband is dead and she’s going to be a widow with a little girl at only twenty-eight. Kate looks at me confused. “Sorry about what?” “Mommy!” Sawyer comes running into the room and I can’t help but shed a tear, Kate must notice because she bends down to Sawyer. “Hey sweetie, why don’t you go upstairs and play with your dolls?” She smiles. “Ok Mommy! Bye Quinn.” She rushes off up the steps and Kate shuts the front door behind us. “Quinn…spit it out.” I cry harder then I manage to control myself. “Kate…Chris was kidnapped and we can’t find him.” Kate gasps and stares at me in horror. “What?” “Yes…I’m scared but there's something else Kate..” She looks at me scared. “Kate…I’m so sorry…Dan…he-he-he’s gone.” She shakes her head. “I know he’s at work, I said that.” “No…Kate he’s gone.” She looks at me. “What do you mean?” I look at her straight in the eyes and say it again. “He’s gone.” The sound that comes out of her mouth is a sound I will never forget. “AHHHHH!!!!!!!!” She starts to fall to the ground and I catch her and ease both of us down. She holds onto me and cries for a good twenty minutes, then she looks up into my eyes. “How long?” “I don’t know…they thought he was Chris and when I pulled the sheet back I knew it was Dan…I’m so sorry Kate.” “MOMMY!” I turn to see Sawyer at the top of the steps. I turn back to Kate who is drying her eyes and putting on a smile. “Do you need me to stay? Detective Brown should be here soon to give more details.” She shakes her head. “No, I’m not even sure that she’ll understand when I tell her…thank you for telling me. Please let me know when you have details on Chris.” “You're welcome, ok.” I turn towards my car. “Oh, and Quinn?” I turned to her. “Yes?” She smiles. “He’ll be ok…I know. I had this strange feeling Dan wasn’t ok…and I don’t have that with Chris so I know he’ll be ok.” I smile. “Thank you.” I climb into my car and drive back to my apartment.
