This numbness that loosens
The strongest of roots
in my heart,
Uprooted- and lain bare
I ache to feel my beloved's hand
caress my hair,
While I rest my head on her lap,
For the last time.
Among the flowers
Who found their roots on this land
I almost wish I would find my root
In our mingled breath,
Until I remembered the soft petals
that sealed my lips
The petals have dried, weighed with their lightness
Now I am left with the thorns I held all my life
Hurting for the hands that gave me the blossom.
