Gasping for air, he woke up breathless from a nightmare that felt all too real. As he realized it was only a dream, he looked at his alarm clock that read 8:37. "God dammit." He muttered under his breath as he got up and walked towards his closet. He opened his closet to see a red polo shirt and a pair of light blue ripped jeans. He quickly got dressed into his clothes and put on the first pair of shoes he found
before rushing outside to the subway station across the street from his apartment. He looked down at his watch as he walked inside the subway station to see he had 5 minutes to get on his train. He walked into the subway station to see his bus 20 feet away from him and quickly walked towards his bus to see there were no empty seats, so he had to stand by the door. Great just what I needed on my first day he thought to himself as the doors opened, as he stepped off the bus, he saw his new workplace from outside the windows of the subway station. He looked up at the purple sign of his new workplace that read Starlight newspaper.
He walked out of the subway station and began to walk towards his workplace before he saw a woman who looked around his age carrying a coffee and a paper bag along with a stack of books and a few paper files. "Do you want some help with that?" he asked as she looked up at him with a slight smile. "That would be lovely." She said as he grabbed the books from her arm. "I'm Josiah, what's your name?" he asked as they both walked towards Starlight Newspapers. "Marleen, Marleen Myers." She said briefly as they both entered the building. They walked into the elevator as she pressed the button 4 before saying
"What floor are you on?"
"Oh- same one as you." He said with a smile as she backed away from the buttons. They stayed silent for the majority of the elevator ride before their was a suddenly ding and the doors opened.
"Anyway you can point me to Mrs. Starlights office?" He asked as he glanced back at her.
"Yeah it's right over there" She said as she pointed towards largest office at the end of the hall.
