A/N: i edited and extended this, I AM BEGGIING FOR CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM
The rest of the night was a blur. Flashes of Phi and Hyde ran through his mind, keeping him from getting a wink of sleep.
And fire. So much fire.
Pieces of the broken Achilles rained down, multiplying by the second. The shards were serrated, cutting into his skin and stinging like hell. The fire burned his eyes as sparks flew all around him. Then his blurred vision allowed him to catch yet another glimpse of Phi.
Growling, he ran towards him, hand outstretched as if wanting to slap him. Only then, Phi smiled and, with a sweep of his own hand, sent Aiger flying back.
"You..." Aiger wanted to say a lot worse, preferably the kind of things that would have gotten his mouth washed out with soap at home, but his throat was so dry, he couldn't get more than one word out.
The strength to run seeped out of him. He was tired, hot, and hurting in more ways than one. All he could do was watch on his knees as Phi held out Achilles -- as a whole -- and crushed it into little pieces of dust.
"You think this is hell?" He chuckled softly, reveling in Aiger's horror. "Oh, I can go a lot worse. And maybe I shall try. After all, you aren't my plaything for nothing. Breaking you gives me more joy than I can imagine."
Phi was in control now. He would keep Aiger trapped in this nightmare for as long as he wanted for his own amusement, to see how far down the deep end he could go. How much pain he could possibly take. So far, he had exceeded expectations, and this was only a small taste of what he could do.
A maniacal grin spread on Phi's face. This was everything he wanted, and more.
Something in the brunette seemed to shatter, causing him to scream. He felt the fire leave him, the flames purple.
"Go on, scream."
Phi's eyes went dark. Everything was going according to plan.
"It won't do you any good."
"Yeah, right. Are you scared of me?" A broken laugh escaped his lips. Aiger's bed of flames slowly washed over everything, leaving ashes in their wake. Closing his eyes, he laughed as he let everything in his wake burn —
"Aiger! Aiger! WAKE UP!"
Suddenly, he wasn't with Phi, but outside Beigoma Academy in his tent, Cap'n shaking him awake frantically. He sniffed the air, smelling fresh air and smoke.
Wait. What?
He broke out of the blonde's grasp and stood up, looking shocked.
He now realized why everything smelled of smoke. His tent had been completely burned to the ground. Drops of blood -- whose exactly, he couldn't tell, led to a body laying a few feet away.
The face was almost completely burnt, the only parts remaining an open eye, tufts of singed hair, and pieces of skin. Burns slashed all the way across the body, and one particularly deep gash was dripping blood. Ashes surrounded it, almost like flowers at a funeral.
Aiger squinted, then stared in horror as he recognized it.
Pale face.
Blonde hair.
Red eyes.
"Oh no."
Aiger fell on his knees in the grass. He looked at Cap'n who shared the same horrified expression. He pointed at Fubuki's body. "I did that?"
Cap'n just stood there. "I - I don't know. It - whatever killed him must have been the same thing that burned your tent."
"But how did the tent catch fire?" Aiger had a good hunch, but he wanted to be sure. And he really, really hoped he wasn't correct.
"I...actually don't know." Cap'n scratched his head. "I heard weird noises coming from your tent, and then the next thing I knew, it burst into flames. I ran inside to get the fire extinguisher. You're welcome, by the way."
Aiger looked to the right and saw the fire extinguisher lying near the ashes that used to be his tent.
Two figures suddenly came running towards them.
"Cap'n!" Tobisuke panted, stopping short to catch his breath. "Why'd you run off like that?"
He then saw Fubuki's remains and shrieked, jumping into Gumita's arms. She rolled her eyes. "Tobisuke, what's wrong with y-"
She then caught sight of the body and the tent . "What the fuck?!" she yelped.
Cap'n faced Aiger. "I think you know what happened here."
He wasn't exactly fuming, but he didn't seem calm with Aiger either. He was disturbed, but also concerned. Not just for himself. Aiger too.
If you asked Aiger, that was more than he deserved. He'd just killed someone who considered him a friend, if not a best friend. Looking back at the body, he felt sick to his stomach.
How could he have done this?
He didn't deserve the Wild Bey Gang listening for an explanation of what happened, and he certainly didn't deserve their concern.
He deserved to be swallowed up in flames like Fubuki. Screw that, he deserved to still be stuck in that nightmare. Stuck in that hell.
"You guys..." he said, his voice breaking. "I --"
Suddenly a distressed yell cut through the air. "Fubuki! Where are you?"
They looked up in surprise. Through his blurred vision, Aiger could make out the distinct shape of Suoh running towards them.
"Fubuki ran off in this direction, have you —" He stopped, catching sight of the corpse on the ground. "Wait, who --" Suoh kneeled on the ground and stared at it for a second.
He gasped, locking eyes with his best friend's corpse.
bye fubuki.
