[7] Getting closer than ever

He chuckled at my reaction "They say they got those plants from far away. It's quite something special."

We sat on a bench and saw some ducks at a small pond sleeping. "How adorable! Look at them!" I said exited. The Onceler followed where I looked "Your right! You really can't help but wanting to pet them."

After a while we got up and just walked through the park. "Did you every wondered what would have happend if we haven't met?" The Onceler said out of nowhere.

"Actually, no. Never. Why do you ask?" He looked down to me "Not particular reason, I just tried it once, when my mom and I... Fighted. And I couldn't even imagine it"

I blushed because I didn't expect that awnser. "O-oh, I understand.. I think, if I would try to, I couldn't as well." I said while smiling at him.

"Good to hear. Let's go to the next place I wanna take you to" He took my hand, carefully, hoping not to overstep my boundaries. It was a bit weird, but I didn't disliked it.

When we got out of the park we saw a big truck that was clearly from Concelers company. "Seems like they are here already"

The Onceler didn't even looked at it and just walked forward. "The next stop isn't as far away as the park"

And he was right, after only some minutes we were there. It was a cute Waffle stand. "I know we ate an hour ago, but you want some?"

I nodded "There's always room for dessert" He laughted at me.

We ourself's our favorite waffle with ice cream and and ate it while going through the town.

"This is really good! The warm waffle and cold ice cream are perfect together." The Onceler nodded in agreement.

After we finished our waffles and throwed our trash in a nearby trashcan, the Onceler cashually took my hand again.

"There is only last place I want to go with you. Then we have to go already" I looked at him "What a pity, it does so much fun going through the city."

He patted my head for a bit "Don't worry, we can visit it again sometime. Promise" and got his hand with mine again.

"Y-you really want to make me blush the whole day!" I said with a frowny face. "Of course" he said like it was nothing. "Your an idiot you know that" but rather than feeling offended by it, he just smirked at me.

After a while of walking we got to a statur of the guy we made a contract with yesterday. "Why did you bring me here, Oncie?"

He squeezed my hand a bit "I want us to have something like this too. It doesn't matter if I'll get it a bit later with stopping the tree chopping, but I'll get there. We'll get there. I want to be famous on the whole globe with my Thneeds."

I was a bit scared that he would get greedy again, if he sees that without chopping he won't get that far and that this was just a empty speech.. Nah, he would never do that. Especially when I won't let his mom talk to him alone, everything will be fine.

My fave turned to the statue. "Yes, we'll get there, together." Even though I didn't saw it, I knew that the Onceler was happy about what I just said.

"I don't wanna ruin the moment, bit it's time to go, Oncie" He looked at the time "Yeah you're right. Let's head to the hotel."

So we head back to the hotel, packed our bags and got to the care. "Did you got everything, y/n?" - "Yeah, I think so"

After getting into the Taxi it was a bit silent for a while. "Uhm, I wonder what they'll wrote about us tomorrow, haha.."

The Onceler, that was looking out of the window for now, looked at me and had to giggle "Me too. The worst would be, that they'll take you as a gold digger" I sighted how true that was.

"Anyway, if you want, we can go more often to towns together, if I have business here." I looked surprised at him " Is that really okay? I mean, wouldn't it be best to get others to take care of those kind of things after a while?"

"Not really, I don't want others to take of this. They'll just screw up. I just know it" I laughed at that "That makes sense, indeed"

When we got near my home, that I could afford now, after I this job from the Onceler, even though it was really cheap and not in a good state, I felt the Onceler got closer.

After I got out of the car the Onclere followed me "You know, y/n.. I had so much fun today and I think we got really close." He said, while holding both of my hands.

"Me too! It felt so good speding time with you" Was he about to..? I wasn't sure.

But then he got nearer to my face. "I love you y/n.. I don't even know since when, but that doesn't matter. It feels like I've never felt different for you before."

I was speechless. I was sure that I wanted to go on a date with him, seeing how things turned out, but that love? Is it love to want him at my side, hearing his voice, laugh.. feeling his touch.

Our heads got closer till your lips met in a soft kiss, full of love and passion. I felt butterfly's going insane in my stomach.

Onceler Pov:

"I.. I love you too, Oncie!" She said, with her loving eyes meeting mine for the first time. That snapped something in me.

I held her closer and went for another kiss. "You don't know how happy you made me by saying thing kind of stuff, y/n. Do you know that I'm he happiest man alive right now?"

She blushed, harder than the rest do the day, from the words I said. And I felt proud of it. I was probably blushing as well, but I didn't care.

Lost in the moment, wondering what could come next, I was brave enough to ask her something I wanted to ask the whole day.

"Do you wanna stay at my place?"
