Tip Toe [Sequel to Could only Imagine]

Chapter 8

I know right away when Alex gets home, because she bursts into my room and hugs me tight.
"I am SO proud of you Emily!" Alex says, her voice full of excitement.
"Um, for what?" I ask, confused. Alex pulls away and grabs my shoulders.
"For going into your old twitter dummy!" Alex laughs. I smile a bit.
"I just can't believe so many people care," I admit. Gabe walks in, looking worried.
"Emily, do you still have the app to see who is like your top fan?" He asks his face nervous.
"Um ya why?" I ask confused.
"Can I see it?" He asks. I hand him the phone, and his face twists into consideration.
"What?" Alex asks, going to look over her boyfriend's shoulder.
Her face goes pail at the same time Gabe's does.
"What?!" I ask, slightly panicked.
Gabe comes and sits by me.
"We checked who has your notifications on" Gabe says softly. Still not understanding, I take the phone and scroll through the many twitter handles. Than I see it.

My heart stops and I feel my breath hitch. Cole would have seen I tweeted.
"It's okay Emily, there is no way he can see what you look like" Alex says trying to comfort me.
"No! I posted the song I wrote while at Cole's house on Youtube as an ORIGINAL! Cole will recognize it!" I say starting to panic.
"Emily you are starting to have a panic attack. Put your head between your knees and breath," Gabe advises. I do, and I feel my breath slowing down. "I will call your work and tell them you might not be coming in for a while. It will be okay," Gabe comforts.
I shake my head. "No, I need to go to work tomorrow," I say shakily.
"Are you sure Emily? I mean we have plenty of money. You really don't have to," Alex explains, looking worried.
"Ya I'm sure," I say composing myself. "If I don't I will never leave. I can't let him ruin my life." Gabe and Alex look at each other as if saying "Too late."
