"You are okay, breath nandini" I try to calm myself down but tears formed in my eyes
They wouldn't stop, I tried to wipe them away, I tried covering my mouth so he wouldn't hear me.
"Nandini" I heard a voice
"No no" I cried against my hand
I heard footsteps getting closer, as that happened my heart rate was through the roof, I was going to pass out if he came any closer
He found me, he mhm he will take me right, I will get hurt again, he he will not let me go this time, he will hurt me
"Nandini" I heard again, closer this time
The door opened making me jump back as I held onto manik's t shirt tighter, he said he will protect me, bhai said he will be here to protect me but no one is here
"Nandini" a whisper making me cry louder into my hand
"Nandini"
"Ahhhhhh noo pleaseee" I screamed running out of the closet
I ran into someone
"Hey, whats wrong sweet?"
"Help me, please" I cry
"Shh shhh, shortcake"
I look up to find those beautiful hazel eyes, the ones I look for every single day, the ones that provide me comfort.
"Ma-manik" I cry holding his t shirt
"Shhh whats wrong? Are you okay?" He asked
"Manik, he he"
"Who?"
"Manik he he was here, he will, he"
"Cabir" I heard him say
I didn't care about what he was saying, I don't care who he is talking to right now.
"Shh shhh you are okay" he cooes kissing my head
"Manik he" I cry looking up at him
"There is no one, jsut cabir and I. There is no one in the house" he caresses my hair
"No no, he he was here"
"Who?"
"He he"
"You are panicking, just breath baby im right here"
I shoved my face in his chest crying, I tried calming down and trying to breath like he asked but I couldn't.
"Baby wakey wakey" I heard stiring a little bit
I jumped up
As I look around I saw bhai, manik, and navya sitting there, I notice I was holding manik's hand tight like my life depended on it and it did.
"You are okay, relax" i hear bhai
"Bhai" I whisper
"Pumpkin what's wrong? Are you okay? Is everything alright?"
"I I, bhai I"
"What happened?" He asked
"Bhai he, he" I was stammering so bad
"He isn't here, he can't come in here nandini"
"But I, he"
"It was a nightmare pumpkin" he whispers caressing my hair
i pulled back, I didn't want to pull back but I had to, I mhm I felt his touch on my hair.
"You are okay" he whispered with a smile, I nod but honestly it wasn't happening
I was freaking out a lot, I was scared.
"Mhm cabir come on lets go outside and do that thing we had to do, mhm manik is here" I heard navya
bhai leaned forward and kissed my forehead making me close my eyes as I felt myself squeezing manik's hand.
"I love you pumpkin and I promise to not let him or her come any closer" he told me kissing my head again
Him and navya both left the room, I grip my legs in hiding my face in my knees trying not to cry again
"Nandini baby you need to talk to me darling, I can't help if I don't know whats going on" I heard manik's sweet and concerned voice
"Ma-manik i"
"Sweetheart, there is no one in the house, I promise you no one is here except for navya, cabir, you and I. Alia isn't here either. I checked the cameras too love, there is no one I promise"
"No no you, you are lying" I cry
"Okay shh here ill show you okay" he says grabbing his phone
He handed me his phone, I didn't even blink as I watch this video, this security video of manik and bhai leaving this morning, then them and navya coming in. Alia di left in between but he wasn't here.
i look up at him and he nods at me.
"You are safe baby, I promised I would protect you and I will, I always will"
i leave his phone and slowly move my hands to him holding his t shirt, his arms wrapped around me pulling me closer. I dug my face in his neck as I find his scent soothing.
"Twinkle twinkle little stars, how I wonder what you are, up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky" I sniffle hearing him hum me the poem
"Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are, up above the world so high, like a diamond in the sky, twinkle twinkle little star" he sings
His hand runs on my back calming me down with his soothing, peaceful touch. I was holding onto him like my life depended on it.
