One of my favorite fire pokemon. Thanks to Blaisemonkey for suggesting this! Infernape is a very diverse pokemon, capable of playing all sorts of rolls for a team.

Set 1: ironape
Infernape
Ability: iron fist
Item: life orb/ choice band or scarf
Nature: adamant/ jolly
Thunder punch
Mach punch/ fake out
Fire punch/ flare blitz
Close combat
252 attack 252 speed 6 hp

Iron fist is the focal point of this set, as you can see with the nickname, "ironape". Iron fist gives punching moves more power. The items are really your choice- life orb gives you power and freedom at a cost, while the choice items take that freedom away but give it unrivaled strength in that stat. Close combat is its main damaging move- although it doesent get the iron fist boost it still gets STAB and hurts. Thunderpunch doesent get STAB but gets iron fist boost, and coupled with life orb can be a great coverage move for Infernape, taking down those flying and water types. Fire punch gets all the boosts and can be all you need- although flare blitz is powerful, it has a drawback. But it's all personal preference. The last move should be a weaker specialty move, Mach punch or fake out. Fake out can break sturdies for Infernape to go ahead and KO. But Mach punch is a powerful priority move that gets both boosts, and as we all know, priority moves can be just what you need sometimes.

2nd set: sp attacker:
The 2nd set relies on infernapes sp attack, which is perfectly equal to its attack! Its sp move pool is not quite as good as it physical though.

Infernape
Ability: blaze
Nature: modest/ timid
Item: life orb/ choice scarf or specs
Grass knot/ solar beam
Focus blast
Fake out/ encore
Overheat/ heat wave/ fire blast
252 sp attack 252 speed 6 hp

This set works a lot better on sun teams. Blaze is due to the fact that iron fist is useless on this set. The items are again your choice, but mostly have the same effect. Grass knot is a weaker version of solar beam, but it doesent rely on the sun and still gives coverage. Solar beam is far more powerful but it needs sun. Focus blast is a must for STAB and high damage- it's this sets close combat. Fake out breaks sturdies. Encore can wrestle down even the toughest of walls by locking the target into a move. The STAB fire move is all up to you- overheat is accurate and powerful but means Infernape will have to switch a lot to compensate for the sp attack loss. Fire blast is powerful but inaccurate. heat wave is dependable and hits multiple targets but is less powerful.
