Standing right here,
Looking straight at the moon.
Wanting so badly to tell you,
"I love you."
How can I do so?
You're a thousand miles away.
We see the same moon,
yet you're not near me.
There's only one moon in this world,
However, we couldn't even enjoy it at once.
But if the moon appears one last time,
I'm willing to give all its light to you.
Until then, let me stand beneath it
and let me whisper in the air,
hoping to get it to you,
"The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"
***(The translation of "I love you" into Japanese to "Tsuki ga Kirei desu ne" (The Moon is beautiful, isn't it?) is commonly attributed to the great writer, Natsume Soseki.)
