Lei'la Te Kazumi Izumi'ite was born just as the sun hid behind the horizon, letting the moon escape into the night sky. At the very moment, the first cry left her lips, another Na'vi was born. The firstborn of Jake and Neytiri, the future Olo'eykten of the Omatikaya: Neteyam Te Suli Tsyeyk'itan. Their parents deemed it a gift from Eywa that two children were born on the same day, the same minute, and the same second. The clan felt blessed that they'd been given such an honour to raise twin flames. They shared a ceremony welcoming them into the clan; they shared the ceremony connecting them to Eywa for the first time, but from the moment they first met, something changed. Neteyam had stolen little Lei'la's toy, making the girl cry, so she hit him on the head, making him cry. From that moment on, she hated the firstborn of the Sullys, and he hated her just the same.
Lei'la grew to be a fierce warrior and strong woman in the clan. Her father was the leader of the hunting parties, a mantle he would pass on to her when she was ready. She had been training all her life for this; she would wake up before eclipse had ended to train, then help out around the clan, or she would stay and watch her two younger siblings while her parents were out. She loved her brother and sister more than anything; they were her whole world. Ka'ey was born two years after her and immediately stole their attention, but she didn't mind. It became her mission to protect her brother at all costs. So when her little sister RaiRai was born three years later, her parents fell back into the same routine of ignoring her presence and only using her as a babysitter or to train. She knew deep down they loved her; she was their firstborn, their little warrior, but sometimes the lack of affection got to her, leading to Lei'la spending her spare time high in the trees, letting all her pent-up emotions out.
That small hatred that Lei'la had against Neteyam grew as they got older; they were always trying to one-up each other in training, hunting, or who could get the most praise from their parents; Neteyam always won the latter, which pissed Lei'la off more. She was a ruthless fighter; she had taken down almost every soldier in the clan, including Olo'eyktan Jake Sully, which pissed Neteyam off more. Every day was a constant competition between the two, and it fuelled their desire to be the best. There is only one number spot, and both of them were desperate to obtain it.
Neteyam Te Suli Tsyeyk'itan was a protector. It was his sworn duty to protect his family, his siblings, and his parents, so he became the best warrior he could be. He trained every day with his father to become the next Olo'eyktan of the Omatikaya, but there was always something holding him back. Lei'la. She was always there. From the moment he was born, she was there trying to be better than him, and it enraged him, but he had to keep a level head in front of his people and his younger siblings. He loved his siblings more than anything, and when they adopted Kiri, his parents shared their attention equally between the two siblings. Even when Lo'ak was born, his parents never once neglected him; the same with little Tuk. His parents always gave him the time of day, even when everything was so chaotic. They always had time for their mighty warrior.
Lei'la and Neteyam are the clan's twin flames. A bond so intense that they are seen as each other's half. One can't live without the other. Maybe that bond has become so corrupted with hatred that they are deemed to be enemies for life, but what if those feelings slowly begin to change?
Can hatred that deep turn into something so pure?
