Part Two: The new beginning

My eyes flew open as I bolt up in bed, gasping for air. A warm morning breeze was blowing in from my slightly open window. Just like it was the day we left for the cabin, except for one thing. The sun was shining outside my window and birds were singing in the trees. My eyes widened as I realized that the time loop I had been stuck in for years is gone. But how? I look around and see that my bag from the trip is in the corner, and everything was where I had left it but something was missing. My suitcase! Before I could get up to look for it, someone knocked on my bedroom door. I hummed and the door creaked open, just enough for my dad to poke his head in. He looked relieved and cleared his throat. "Bennett! Are you okay? The police found you in the woods. I came by the cabin to check on you guys , but you weren't there. I went inside and found Vanny's body."

I could see my dad was trying to hold back his tears as he checked me for any injuries, but he was failing. I shook my head and pulled him into a hug. After a while he pulled back and smiled. "Get dressed and come down for lunch, okay sweetie?" I nodded and my dad smiled, pulling me into another hug, before he turned to the door and left me alone with my thoughts. 'The police must have forgotten my suitcase. Or they couldn't find it.' Then it hit me. 'It's over. It's finally over. I'm free. I'm finally free.' I smiled, getting up and changing into a navy blue T-shirt and pulling on some teal shorts. Slipping my baby blue sweater over my T-shirt, I left my room slowly walking down the hallway before going to the kitchen downstairs.

My dad was sitting on the couch, watching the news. I grabbed a plate of eggs and sat down, turning my attention to the screen.

Last night, a group of teenagers that were staying at a cabin in the mountains were attacked by some of their friends. Two boys and four girls were killed. Michael Raven, John Sagespark, Vanny Occisor, Jannet Wood, Cam VanderBloom, Cassandra Kicklighter. Sally Raven has been arrested for her crimes and will be facing a judge in court. Mike Overlord, Owen Adams, N Casper, and Sophie Keller-West have not been found. The police and search parties are still investigating their disappearance. Bennett Mercy, a boy at the age of fifteen, was found bloody and unconscious two miles away from the cabin that they were staying at last night. He was the only survivor that we know of. Around the same time yesterday, Acritown was bombed. Authorities have not found the person responsible. We can only hope that the two incidents are not connected. The screen went black. Dad stood up, shaking his head. He was muttering something about mom forcing us to move here. Why did mom force us to move here? Who is she? Where is Nate and why didn't the news say his first name? Why did they only use the first letter? I have so many questions right now, but I know that my dad won't answer any of them because he either doesn't want me to know, or he doesn't know the answer himself. I was brought back to reality when my dad opened the front door and slammed it behind him. I ran to the window and watched him climb into his truck and drive away. I looked away from the window and turned the T.V back on.

The screen flickered back to life and I flipped through the channels until I found the news again. I turned the volume up and sat on the couch, bracing myself for more bad news.

We have news that the culprit for the bombing of Acritown lives in a town nearby, called HollowCreek. The culprit is in their late forties, they are female and the sister to an Emily Johnson. They were last seen leaving a house on 435 North, Flood Street. They have blonde hair, brown eyes and are 5'7. Last seen wearing a green flannel shirt with black pants, and white shoes.
