Good thing the village there stands strong, and they thwarted off the attack. Otherwise, this would signal the approach of a much stronger and formidable foe.

This buys us time to prepare our defences and our forces.

Hehe, after this short war, my influence will skyrocket! Aristea will be neutralised, and I will be able to gain entry to the Palace once more. Just think about it; I have to do basically nothing, defeat a bunch of losers, and watch my sister scream in agony, as I'll just comfortably find myself right next to her in the throne.

Plus, it'll make me more popular! The people of Gelida and Longnor, basically think of me as this shut-in, freak Evil Princess, who only terrorises people. So, this will help me boost my popularity among the people.

I also get to taste my first battle! It'll be fantastic! All these hours into the Total War series games will pay off!

Hmm, I should revamp the military first if I want to dominate my foes in battle.

Currently, we have iron, bronze, gold and silver mines in the mountainous regions of Longnor, all in my possession. I should use them to make lighter and more effective armour.

A Greek linothorax should be enough. A Corinthian style helmet should also be enough. This should be enough for the normal infantry. The quality of the armour will only increase based on how valuable and elite the unit is.

The standard current infantry is comprised of heavy medieval knights, with no shields whatsoever. Dear me, where are they going like this...

Linothorax, corinthian helmets and a scutum Roman shield for them. A kopis Greek sword should be in circulation a few days.

For the heavier infantry, it will probably be something along the lines of an armoured Hoplite unit. A tight-packed shield formation with long spears and heavy armour. Nothing will be able to penentrate them. Not even those barbarians.

Now, for the game-killer, I should release a patent from my previous world, which will probably trigger a revolution in the military world; the Phalangites. Of course, pikes have long existed in this world; however, they are relatively weak to projectiles.

So, I will attatch a 1 metre in diameter shield, which will be worn on the arms of the soldiers, offering additional protection. Also, their pikes will increase in length to match their ancient counterparts of Alexander The Great's pikemen.

The pikes will slow down the arrows, thus minimising the penetrative damage they cause. Pikes divert the original course of the arrows, making them "bounce off". In combination of lost vertical momentum, heavy armour, and a shield, my pikemen can become invincible. And let's not add the fact that they'll be so tightly packed, they'll be practically considered as a single, slow, immovable death machine.

As much as the pikemen are invincible from the front, the rear and sides are unprotected, and if an enemy outflanks them, then it'll turn into a massive rout.

So, I need more mobility. The best of men you can find to serve this purpose are two: the first is an infantry unit called Peltasts.

The peltasts harass enemy units with their javelins and also engage in melee combat, being fairly good. They require perfect physical condition and an expertise in both javelin throw, and sword combat.

The second, and probably the most reliable, is cavalry. You know what cavarly does; slashes down enemy infantry, weak to anything sharp, long and pointy, so spears are a no-no, and can pretty much destroy anything if they hit it from behind or the flanks, even the heaviest of units.

I'm going to include both of them. We have a fairly good breed of horses, called the Scuros horses; strong, resistant to cold, can ride with armour. Sporty, speedy, and always reliable; we also have men capable of such physical endurance to be peltasts.
