Chapter 5 - Shocking

"Fine. But I suggest you do the research and due to the fact that both twins have it, there's a high chance that Toni has Asperger's too."

"What?"

"Just look into it."

"Okay. Thanks so much."

"Anytime." She left out, leaving me with my thoughts. As I thought about it, it does make sense. I don't know how I could've missed this. However, I'm worried about the implications of a delayed diagnosis. I'm in my mid thirties, what sort of changes will come with it.
My thoughts were interrupted by my office phone ringing. "Hello."

"Yes, I have a Jo Terrell here for you."

"Who is she?"

"Apparently, she's a prospective student and she was sent here to speak with you about specifics."

"Alright, send her in." I hung up and soon my door opened. I stood up and went around my desk. "Hello, I'm Dr. Janet Jackson-Braxton, please have a seat."

"Thank you." She sat down and I took my seat behind my desk. I took a good look at her and she seemed familiar. So did her baby.

"And who is this little cutie?"

"Oh, this is my daughter. I'm doing this for her."

"How sweet. So tell me, what made you interested in our school?"

"Well, for one, this school has an excellent reputation for being helpful and supportive. The academics are amazing and this school has the best version of the program I'm interested in."

"That's excellent, but I must say; this is something easily discussed with our admissions office, why did they send you to me?" She laughed and it made me wonder where I knew her from. She seemed too familiar.

"Well, I specifically asked to see you."

"Really, why?"

"Because we have a lot in common."

"We do?"

"Yes. We are both interested in the same career paths, we have children the same age and, oh my gosh what was that last thing....oh yeah...we have the same father." I froze. That's why she looked so familiar, she looks like Joseph and that's when my heart sank.

"But that's not possible. My father never had any children after me." She chuckled.

"Yes, he did. Let me properly introduce myself. I'm JohVonnie Jackson. I was born seven years after you." I looked at her.

"So who's your mother, because my mother definitely didn't have another child?"

"Do you remember Cheryle Terrell?" My heart officially broke.

"That's not possible. She was my godmother and one of my mother's best friends. Well, until they suddenly stopped speaking to each other and she moved away for some unknown reason."

"Exactly. I'm that unknown reason." I took a minute to take in everything. My father cheated on my mother with her best friend and had a baby which he kept a secret.

"So what do you want?"

"I've been searching for you guys ever since he died and I figured it was time for us to meet. I would actually like to meet all my siblings and my daughter needs to know her cousins. I believe she has four from you."

"I'll discuss this with them and let you know."

"Why don't we all discuss this together? I have been searching for so long."
