"Pffff" I spit out my drink, giggling at Ferris Bueller's Day Off playing on my flat screen. It's one of my favorite movies and is something that is currently providing me comfort, considering the shitty ass day I've had.
My day started just like it usually does, I woke up of course. Duh.
But that was just the start of my horrible, no-good, lame, and eventful day...
The sun was out bright as ever, which I HATED. I prefer a nice and gloomy day, the air is a lot cooler. Plus I wear baggy clothes so the heat is dreadful. In Los Angeles, we rarely have any non-sunny days, especially since the summertime is creeping upon us.
"Ugh" groaning, I began my usual walk to the park, nothing else was on my agenda for the day. My brother was out of town and my parents were working, I had decided to use my PTO and chill this week, Trader Joe's won't miss me too much.
Airpods blasting Misery Business by Paramore, my feet carry me with the tune to my favorite park bench and I plop down right in my usual spot.
Something felt different about today, not just the fact that I forgot to make my avocado toast for breakfast today but someone new was at the park today.
People-watching is one thing I love to do when I come here, meaning I know everyone who comes through here this time of day. This woman, is never usually here I don't recognize her.
God, she is beautiful though, I hate that for me.
I haven't been in a relationship in a very long time, and yes I chose that lifestyle. Happiness hits differently when you're happy with yourself. Now this is what made my day go downhill-
"Hey, are you okay?" the beautiful woman I was observing from afar, was now standing right in front of me, covered in tattoos head to toe with brown hair and the shiniest eyes. I was stunned by her presence because when the fuck did she get over here??

"No, my name is Billie" Mentally I face-palmed myself because that was not what she meant. The mystery woman lets out a soft laugh.
"I'm Kehlani. I saw you staring at me and you seemed to be stuck for a while, I just wanted to make sure you were straight" Oh is she on to me? I am not-
Clearing my throat, I allow myself to say some more words "Sorry, I had zoned out"
Kehlani nods "So why are you here ?" oh god, we are engaging in conversation. I want nothing more than to escape this moment right now.
"Well, I own the park you see" My face is serious, and she displays a look of confusion. "I'm joking Lani"
"Haha, oh" Kehlani grins at me then decides to plop down right next to me, and my heart rate quickens a bit. "I'm supposed to be meeting someone here but it seems they are running a bit late"
