Chapter 09: Still Here

Start from the beginning

—I tracked the website as soon as the update came out. And again, the location's the same, but the user changed. Do you see that countdown? It's the time left for the username to change, so it's impossible to know who is behind the website – Kai explained before pointing at another code.

—What is that? – I asked, confused.

—I used to put all the titles for any web page with this color font. But I stopped using it when I left Seoul – Kai pointed out sternly.

—So, we were right. The person behind the website it's from your school back in Seoul – I conveyed while looking at the laptop, surprised—. Do you know if any of the students have a connection to your past in Seoul? – I asked while glancing back at Kai.

—Few students came along with me. But it's hard to tell who could be responsible for the blog – Kai admitted before taking a deep breath—. Now, do you see how I haven't given up? I'm doing everything I can to get to the bottom of this. But I guess the website's creator is also someone skillful in programming – Kai deduced before placing the laptop on his bedside table; then, he laid against the pillows.

I stared at Kai while looking at how messages started to increase.

Seeing the hate people sent to Kai was irritating; thus, I turned off the phone and put it away.

—Thanks, that helps – Kai said before closing his eyes as I could see the frustration all over her face.

I got closer to Kai, snuggling as close as possible—. Come on, let's go out – I said while moving his hand back and ford.

—Where do you want to go? – Kai asked, still not looking at me.

—I'll take you to my hotel room. You know. We can enjoy the day there, and you can also meet my team – I suggested, trying to convince Kai to tag along.

—Yeonjun-hyung, it's raining! If we go out, we'll get sick – Kai pointed out while glancing at the window; I looked in the same direction before smiling at him.

—We'll be okay! Come on! – I complained, making Kai snicker slightly.

—Okay, okay, let's go out – Kai said before I stood up quickly. I grabbed his hand and guided him out of the bedroom.

Eventually, we got out of her house—. Yeonjun, it's raining a lot! – Kai complained while standing closer to me, trying to cover himself from the rain.

I chuckled before placing my jacket on Kai's shoulders. I took his hand after closing the door of his house; we ran towards my car while getting soaked by the rain. I started to laugh while enjoying the freshness of the water against my skin, making Kai glance at me while snickering. Shortly, he looked up to the sky while closing his eyes; I glanced at Kai and smiled at how he was relaxing after everything that went down.

Briefly, I walked toward Kai, took his hand, and guided him toward the car. We got inside while laughing about our silly play in the rain. And shortly, I began to drive to the hotel.

2 hours until dawn.

When we got to the room, my team greeted Kai. I presented them all to him before some of them scolded me for playing in the rain, which made Kai laugh at me for some time. After that, my friends helped Kai feel comfortable; they gave him clothes and told him to shower before catching a cold. I did the same in another bedroom, and later, we reunited in the living space. – My team discussed the activities for tomorrow and the last things I must do before returning to Seoul. In the meantime, Kai was paying attention to everything we said. Surprisingly, he gave great advice on tomorrow's schedule; I saw Kai so supportive that I didn't stop him. Something moved inside me after seeing Kai so invested; it was a weird sensation, but it made me happy to see that Kai wished me to do well. It is reminiscent of our old days.

Right now, I'm in the kitchen, making coffee for tonight. I didn't want to sleep early, so I wanted something to keep me awake for more time. But as I was finishing the process, someone came inside the room.

—Hey – I heard Kai say before standing beside me.

—Hey, I thought the guys were keeping you busy – I bothered, making Kai chuckle.

—I left them rebuilding the tower; I took a little escape to check social media – Kai disclosed.

I annoyedly sighed—. Kai—

I was about to complain, but Kai stopped me—. I have an idea of where the website's creator could come from.

—What? From where? – I asked, intrigued.

—It's someone from my school, and that person followed me from Seoul. So, I'm sure the website's owner may be inside my programming class – Kai declared before taking out his phone and showing me a list of the students inside his classroom—. If there's anyone from Seoul inside the school, it has to be inside this group. All the transferred students were from the programming class back home – Kai explained, scrolling down the list of names on his phone.

—Wait, how did you get this list? – I asked, confused.

—Oh, uh, I may have hacked the school's system a few days ago. – Kai said embarrassedly.

I chuckled before caressing Kai's head—. Smart boy! But let's leave this for tomorrow, okay? Too much tech for you today – I told Kai before taking away his phone. He nodded without complaining. Shortly, I grabbed my coffee before we fled from the kitchen and returned with the rest of my team.
