"What's going on with you, Kai? What else did I miss from your life?" I thought, concerned.
I sighed, frustrated while moving my hands anxiously. I wanted Sam to come soon since I must know about the mysterious things he mentioned. I can be patient, but when Kai gets involved, I lose my temper and cool.
Some minutes passed, and I was still waiting for Sam to come. At this point, I could only play the guitar, distract myself, and wait for him to show up. – Gradually, as the minutes passed, knocks on the door started to blare over the hotel room. Immediately, I stood up and received Sam at the entrance.
—You look desperate – Sam pointed out before patting my shoulder.
—Your call intrigued me more than I expected; it's your fault – I disclosed before we walked and sat on the living area's couch.
—Yeah, I'm sorry about that. It was necessary to see you and discuss this situation – Sam spoke before facing me.
—I'm all ears. You can start revealing everything you wanted, Sam – I spoke, looking at him anxiously while putting my hands together.
—When I told you about the game Kai wants you to play, I meant to hint at what he's doing right now. – Sam earnestly said before glancing at me—. Kai is trying to get you on his side. He's trying to tell you what you must know, but not the crucial parts of the current issue that you need to know.
—What do you mean?
—Yeonjun, Kai isn't making the right decisions. Kai doesn't want to fight back. He's becoming frightened by this person and the blog; it has nothing to do with what he can do for himself – Sam explained, his words translating with concern and frustration.
—So, Kai lied to me again – I murmured, confused—. I thought he trusted me after sharing our stories – I admitted, feeling hurt about Sam's statement.
—No, Kai trusts you more than you think, Yeonjun. I never saw him talking to a stranger as he did with you; it was almost instantly the connection both had since the beginning. I'm being honest. And due to Kai's faith in you, my friends and I want to ask you for a hand – Sam worriedly expressed.
I sighed before looking down at the floor—. What is it? – I asked before facing Sam again.
—Encourage Kai to fight back; tell him he needs to find the answers to this problem that has changed him for so long. Help my friend, Yeonjun. He needs to open his eyes and start doing something about that website – Sam insisted, remarking on every word he wanted me to remember.
—Is that going to help Kai's situation? – I asked, concerned.
Sam nodded—. You have no idea what Kai can do with tech. I'm sure he can chase that blog and its creator. But the only thing Kai needs is motivation. And for the looks of it, he already found it – Sam spoke while holding my shoulder gently.
—Motivation? Me? – I questioned, confused.
—Yes, you!
—Well, then. I suppose that if I can do something to help Kai, I'll try my best to tell him everything you informed me today – I sincerely said while smiling slightly.
—Thank you, Yeonjun! – Sam said before hugging me kindly—. And believe me when I say you are someone "special" to Kai. I haven't seen him so happy in such a long time. It was the first time I witnessed him how he is now. Several problems are around him nowadays. But when you show up, he seems to forget them all.
—I'm glad that I made a difference. I mean, it's nice to hear that someone important to you is grateful for the things you've accomplished together – I spoke, not hesitating my words, almost speaking my mind out.
Sam chuckled slightly before patting my back. After that, he took a deep breath—. Kai told me almost the same thing some hours ago – He revealed it to me.
—Are you for real? – I asked, surprised. Sam answered with a nod, making me chuckle slightly; it was odd, but I was happy about it.
"Kai might not remember me, but our connection is still there," I happily thought.
Moments later.
Sam and I; talked for a while more before he needed to return home. But once he left, I decided to dial Kai's number. I wanted to speak with him about everything I discussed with Sam, but he didn't pick up as I wanted; it worried me. Kai usually responds fast; this time, that didn't happen. Thus, I decided to go to his house, only to speak with him about my thoughts regarding his problems.
I'm waiting in front of the entrance after making the bell ring. It's becoming late, and the weather is turning colder, and while looking at the plants in front of Kai's house, I noticed something. The entrance door was open, just like yesterday when I arrived from the studio.
I got inside the house while looking around the place. Everything's dark, and barely the rim light from the sunset gives me enough clarity of my surroundings.
"What's going on?" I thought.
—Kai? – I called out his name while glancing at each corner. Suddenly, I noticed the laptop on the coffee table in the living area; I checked the opened page and discovered it was the blog torturing Kai.
[Declan Ward. I'll start with you since there's nothing you can't handle. Right? I remember you hurt someone I honestly appreciate having in my life. But you didn't care about that guy, the same one that gave you everything you asked for. I have proof of my words; I have enough pictures of a conversation between your friend and you in which you admit using Sam Tanner to get whatever you want.]
After reading the post, there was an audio on the bottom called "The proof." I didn't listen to it and got upstairs immediately. I ran towards Kai's room while calling his name, and there he was, resting on his bed while looking blankly at the ceiling. I didn't hesitate to go towards Kai, and then I tightly hugged him against me.
—I'm here; I know you didn't write any of that. Okay? I believe you, Kai; I'll always stay with you – I spoke while gently holding Kai's head. He didn't utter but started to surround me with his arms, and then some sobs began coming from his mouth.
