Tawn's eyes widened, and she nodded reluctantly, trusting Jake's judgement.
"I love you," he whispered for her to hear before he left.
Tawn watched as the love of her life walked into his death willingly without her by his side. It was cruel of them to threaten the people she loved. She hadn't told Jake about their child. She was so caught up with everything that she pushed the matter to the back of her mind, but now, knowing that he could be killed without knowing that they created a child was excruciatingly painful for her to bare.
The kids didn't know they had a new sibling that they could play with. Tuk would finally be able to understand how it felt like to have a younger sibling to dote on. She wondered how she was holding up. Were they scared? She didn't hear anything about Neteyam and Kiri being on that demon ship, so she guessed that should be a good sign.
She saw small boats emerging from the demon ship, heading toward them. She guessed they were going to take Jake and bring him on board.
She expected many things to happen at the battle, but none like this. She was flabbergasted when she saw a tulkun, breach the water's surface with a high jump and then land on top of the demon ship, creating chaos on it.
A familiar feeling rushed through her. Time seemed to move fast, the sound of her heartbeat in her ears pounding so hard and the adrenaline coursing through her body when she heard Tonowari's battle cries.
Without thinking, Tawn urged her tsurak to dive down and swim to the demon ship. She turned and dodged some debris or dead human bodies on the way. She managed to pass all the obstacles on the surface and reached the bottom of the boat at the same time as a familiar face.
Tawn let out a relieved smile when she saw Neteyam coursing towards her with his ilu. Neteyam acknowledges her with a slight nod before urging his ilu to leap upwards.
Tawn, wanting to follow Neteyam, adjusted her stance on the tsurak before steering it to swim upwards, creating enough momentum for her to get on board.
When she successfully landed on the ship, she heard the kids cry for her name.
She ran towards the kids, watching Neteyam cut Tuk's restraints to the railing.
"Tsireya! Tuk! Thank Eywa, you are okay," Tawn enveloped them with a big hug.
"Where's Mom and dad?" Tsireya asked.
"They're out there," Tawn soothed, "now go before they see you," she urged them to go, pushing them to the edge of the boat.
"Sa'nok come," Tuk cried, clinging to her hand.
Tawn smiled, "I will, my little girl," she turned her head towards Neteyam and Lo'ak, but she didn't see them, "where's your brother?" she whispered in horror.
"I don't know. Maybe they try saving Spider, our friend," Tuk explained, tugging her hands.
Tawn closed her eyes, frustrated by the boys, "Tsireya, get Tuk out of here," she told the teen before turning to Tuk, "Tuk, sa'nok need to help your brother. Can you go with Tsireya, please," she softened her tone, making sure that Tuk understands.
Tuk nodded in defeat before letting go of her hand. Tawn nodded and ran towards the only direction they could go with a spear in her hand.
She tried to be as quiet as possible, lurking behind cases of weapons and dodging as many people as she could. She was great at being light on her feet. She followed the sound of screaming and yelling to find Lo'ak, Neteyam and a human boy fighting with other humans.
She ran towards them and helped them by throwing a human overboard.
"Sa'nok!" Lo'ak and Neteyam cried.
