The sound of a loud horn alerted the clan about the upcoming war. All of this felt unreal for Tawn. For all her life, she had never seen her clan like this, preparing for battle, running to seek shelter while the blaring sound of a deep baritone horn played in the background. It added more tension to the atmosphere.
When they were in the confinement of their hut, Jake immediately opened the box he brought from the forest while Tawn grabbed her spear, which she never used to kill people with. She prayed to Eywa for strength and protection for her children before turning to Jake.
"Here, wear this," Jake gave her an earpiece and necklace, "this you placed it in your ear like mine," he turned his head to the side to show her his comms, "and this on your neck if you want to say something just press here," he explained, showing how it was done to her.
Tawn nodded, doing as instructed, ensuring everything was set in place. She pressed the button that Jake showed her, "Lo'ak?" she tested. She knew this wasn't the right time, but she needed to know if they were okay.
Jake, who was about to walk out, stopped, turning to see his distressed mate. Jake needed to remind himself that she was not Neytiri. This was her first war, unlike him. It was understandable for her to feel frightened.
His gaze softened when he saw the hopeful look on her face.
"Sa'nok? I'm here!" he heard from his comms.
Tawn sighed in relief, "Oh Great Mother, thank you," she whispered, closing her eyes, "hang in there, my loves. We are coming for you," she said on the comms.
Tawn took a few deep breaths, trying to regain control over her emotions and thoughts, finding that centred she needed, before she opened her eyes with determination. She looked at Jake, who had a glint of pride in his eyes when he looked at her and urged him to go.
Jake nodded, walking out of their marui, followed closely by Tawn. They called for their tsurak before jumping down the platform and effortlessly mounting their tsurak.
Tawn urged her tsurak to glide faster. They needed to reach them before the demons got their hands on the kids.
When they arrived at the three brothers' rock, Tawn saw the demon ship up ahead. Her tsurak brought her to Jake's side. She looked at him, waiting for his instruction.
Jake used the binoculars to see the ship clearer. He looked around the recoms avatar, walking around in guard with guns in their hands, before he looked at the railing, noticing Lo'ak, Tuk and Tsireya tied up there with a smirking Quaritch behind them.
"Shit," he cussed, bringing it down.
"What happened?" Tawn asked, concerned.
But Quaritch's voice was heard in their earpiece before he could reply.
Tawn looked at Jake, alarmed at the strange voice speaking an unknown language she didn't understand. She watched Jake lower his head in defeat.
"Jake, what happened? Who is he?" Tawn pressed, not liking her mate's gloomy expression.
"He got Lo'ak, Tuk and Tsireya," he said.
Ronal hissed with agitation while Tonowari turned to him, "What should we do?"
Jake sighed, "it's me that they want," he said, not daring to look at Tawn, "stay here until the right moment," he told Tonowari before he commanded his tsurak to go.
"I'm coming with you, Jake," Tawn announced, adjusting her position.
Jake shook his head, "no! Trust me on this. Otherwise, they are going to kill Lo'ak," he explained, trying to convince her to stay.
