The door to Din's room slid open and he quickly climbed out, clearly he had been woken by the sound as well, we were both very light sleepers due to our profession.

Din hurriedly climbed up the ladder to the cockpit. I sighed and pushed myself up. I didn't want to get up, my bed was feeling too warm and comfortable, but I have to get up and see what's happened.

I pushed my covers off of my legs and stood up from my bed. I shivered when the cold air hit me. I walked over to the ladder and climbed up to the cockpit.

"Thank you for letting me know. I'll get right in it." I heard Din say as the cockpit door slid open.

I walked inside and took a seat in my passenger chair. The lady was still asleep, somehow the alarm hadn't woken her up.

"What's going on?" I whispered to Din.

"They need me to turn on the transponder." Din replied quietly.

I looked out the window and my heart jumped in my chest. Flying alongside us were two New Republic X-wings. This wasn't good.

"Not a Problem. Safe travels." One of the New Republic officers said

"May the force be with you." Din said

"And also with you." The officer said. I thought that the interaction was over.

"Just one more thing." Apparently I was wrong.

"Yea?" Din asked

"I'm gonna need you to send us a ping. We're out here sweeping for imperial holdouts." The officer said. This wasn't good, we had been so worried about pirates and warlords that we never thought about the New Republic. If they found out we were involved in the prison heist of their New Republic prison ship and the murder of one of their officers, we were screwed.

"I'll let you know if I see any." Din said

"I'm still gonna need you to send us that ping." The officer prompted

"Well, I'm not sure I have that hardware online." Din said, he was trying to get out of it.

"We can wait." The officer said. They weren't going to give up.

"Yeah, I...doesn't seem to be working." Din said without trying to get it working

"That's too bad. If we can't confirm you're not imperial, you're gonna have to follow us to the outpost at Adelphi. They'll run your tabs." The officer said.

"Oh, wait. There it is. Transmitting now." Din said

The lady suddenly woke up and gasped loudly. I hushed her as quietly as I could, holding my index finger to my lips.

"Be quiet!" Din tried to hush her

"What's that?" The officer asked having heard her gasp

"Uh, nothing. The hypervac is drawing off the exhaust manifold." Din lied

The lady then began to grunt and make more noises. I sighed in annoyance, was she adamant in getting us caught by the New Republic.

"Carson, can you switch over to channel two?" One of the officers asked

"Copy." Carson replied

The crest then fell into a tense silence as we waited for them to come back on.

"Shit." I muttered quietly, fidgeting with my fingers.

I looked out the window at one of the X-wings and saw the two guns seperate into the X shape they were so well known for. My heart beat accelerated at the sight, they were preparing to fight us, they thought we were an imperial vessel.
