Chapter 8| Blessing Of God

Khushi brought her pallu around her as she cover her head with it before following the men inside. Dadu instructed Manish and Khushi to go by supplies for temple such as coconut and other needed items from the shop while he and Rohan waited. As Khushi followed Manish to a shop, she noticed it to be very crowded.

Manish:"Bhaiya charave ka sara saman de dijiye" Translation:"brother, pack all the items for temple ritual.

The shopkeeper nodded as he called on of this assistance to pack the items. Khushi stood to the side as she watched the boy around Rohan's age set everything up in a Golden plate. She saw as he started to hand the plate to Manish that one item was missing.

Khushi :"Bhaiya ek packet sindoor bhi dal dijiye"Translation: "Brother, please add 1 packet of sindoor as well."

Manish looked back at Khushi who looked down before handing the money to the shopkeeper and taking the Plate of items in his hand. He turned and held the plate out of Khushi who took it before the 2 started to move back to the family.

Khushi had seen how whenever her Chachi would buy items of the pooja, she always took sindoor as well. Seeing it missing from the plate, made her ask for it. She didn't even realize that even though this marriage happened all of a sudden, She had started to act a little like a married women.

Dadu:"Did you buy everything?"

Manish:"yes Dadu. Then lets go. Dadu lets take the  lift up. Walking 100 steps is not good for you"

Dadu:"Yes your right. I'll take rohan with me but you 2 have to climb the stairs only beta. It's part of the ritual that newlyweds follow"

Khushi nodded as Rohan guided Dadaji to the line for the lift. Khushi looked at Manish who moved his head in a signal of lets go to which she nodded. The 2 started to climb the stairs up. Though 100 stairs were not much, With the crowd around it did take some time. Another difficultly Khushi faced was her saari. climbing stairs with a saari on was difficult and she had to climb slowly, but Manish seemed to have a fast speed while climbing. There were multiple times he had to wait few steps up for her to catch up.

Manish:(to Khushi )"Give me the plate, You focus on your saari"(Khushi handed him the plate as she started to climb again but with this time Manish behind her )

Finally the 2 reached the top, They headed to the area where the lift drops off the people to see Dadu and Rohan waiting.

Dadu:"oh there you are. What took so long?"

Khushi :"Sorry Dadaji Actually i.."(Manish cut her off)

Manish:"It was really crowded dadu.. Anyways lets go before the crowd increases more.(Dadu nodded as they moved forward but Khushi 's eyes never left Manish)

Soon they were able to enter the temple and take blessing from the Gods while also offering the items they had brought from the shops down the stairs.

Dadu:"Pandit ji They have gotten married yesterday only so I wanted to provided them with gods blessing for their future"

Panditji:(smiled)"Of course. There is a specific rituals that all newlyweds have to perform."

Dadu:"ji tell us Panditji"

Pandit:(to Manish and Khushi )"Beta you both have to light this diya (Holi candle) and take 7 rounds around the temple. With each round bowing to the god and asking for blessing. The diya should not go out at all during these rounds and most importantly... (he turned to Manish)"Beta you have to carry your wife while doing this ritual. Not even for a second can you let her feet touch the ground until the ritual is done."
