"Yea. Um...I don't know a Ashley." He replied, sounding a little hesitant. "Scott..." "She's probably just an old friend."

"Who uses a winking emoji and says 'call me' to their friend who has a girlfriend."

"He's not cheating on you." "That would be a little more believable if you weren't being cagey right now." I huffed, sitting down on the couch. "Just, talk to Chris...I'm sure there's a good explanation. He loves you. He wouldn't cheat. Not with Ashley."

"So you do know Ashley!" He groaned into the phone. "Fine! Yes, it's his ex. But this is not my business. Talk to him." "Scott." "Reese, I gotta go. I promise it's probably not what you think. Promise me you won't blow this out of proportion."

I scoffed, "yea. Whatever. Bye." I promptly hung up the phone and tossed it onto the coffee table. I heard Chris's footsteps as he walked into the living room.
"Who pissed you off this morning?" He asked, clocking the pissed off look on my face. "If this is about earlier-" "It's not." I cut him off and got up, walking back into his bedroom. I started throwing my things into my suitcase as he followed me in. "Hey, what are you doing?" He sat down next to my suitcase and looked up at me. "I'm going back to New York. I want to be there when Blake has her baby."

"I thought we were going to leave in a few days..."
"Yea well, I want to go now." I crossed my arms and looked at him. "Reese? What's going on?" He gently touched my arm and I sighed. "Nothing. I'm just tired and hungover. I'm sorry for being snappy."
"Okay, we can go today if you want. I just have to-" "No, you stay. You have things to do in LA. I'll be fine and I'll just see you in a few days." He sighed but nodded anyway. "I'll pick up Dodger from Oliver." "Okay." He stood up slowly and pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his torso and leaned into him.

"Are you sure you're alright?" He placed some hair behind my ear. "I'm fine." I smiled up and him and pressed a kiss to his lips.

I finished packing up my essentials and walked into the living room where Chris was now on a call for his company, A Starting Point. His eyes glanced up to me and he gave me a small smile before looking back at the computer. He took out his air pods and walked over to me. "Are you sure?" "Yes, I'm fine. My uber is here." "Okay, I love you." He pressed a gentle kiss to my lips. "I love you too. Go back to your call." I pushed him slightly and he smiled, jogging back to the meeting. I walked out and made my way to the Uber.

After my flight, Ryan sent his assistant Sophie to pick me up from the airport. "Ryan said you were supposed to be back in a few days, is everything alright?" "Yea. Just wanted to be home." I gave her a small smile as she drove me to their house. Blake was at the door waiting and I smiled widely at her. "My little movie star!! I wish I could have been there! Ryan gave me all the details." She smiled, pulling me into a hug. "I missed you." I gave her a kiss on the cheek and helped her inside. Sophie retreated back into Ryan's office where they were going over things for some of his new movies, including "top secret" Deadpool things.

"What made you come back early?" She asked, sitting down on the couch. "I missed you. Didn't want to miss the birth of my new niece or nephew." I put my hand on her stomach and gave her a smile. "What's wrong?" "Nothing!" "Reese."

"Okay, fine." I hate that she knows me so well. "I'm trying not to overreact...that's why I left. Chris was in the shower this morning and his phone started ringing. He said just let it ring, so I decided I would just silence the call because I was hungover and it was annoying. Well it was an incoming call from someone named Ashley, which I figured could be anyone. But then right when it stopped a text came through from the same person telling him to call her. And she used a winking emoji. Then I called his brother who lied to me saying he didn't know Ashley, but when I kept pressing he let it slip he did know who this Ashley girl was, and apparently she's chis ex, and...I don't know what to do."

"Did you ask him?" Blake asked and I groaned. "No. I just told him I was fine and that I was leaving." "Reese..." She gave me a disappointed look. "Don't look at me like that!" "Reese, you should have talked to him! He's probably confused why you left abruptly."

"Yea well, I'm confused too." I huffed and got up off the couch and walked through their house until I found James asleep in her princess bed. I walked into the room and sat down next to her, brushing hair out of her face. He eyes fluttered open and realization crossed her face. "Ree Ree!!!" She screamed and got up, squeezing the life out of my neck. "Hi sweetheart." "Do you want to go watch a movie with me?" I asked and she shook her head yes. I laughed a little, picking her up and carrying her into the guest room. "What movie should we watch today, little miss?" "Tangle!" "Tangled?" She nodded and got comfortable on my bed as I turned on the TV and found Tangled on Disney Plus.

I heard my phone buzz and pulled it out, seeing a text from Chris.

Chris
Sorry, meetings.
I'm glad you made it safe 💙

I sighed and set it down on the nightstand and focused my attention on the screen. I'd deal with it tomorrow.
