Tawn rolled her eyes at his adorable face and rested her head on his chest. Not long after, he put her down and covered her in a blanket, "sleep Tawn."

Tawn nodded, "you should head back. Your kids are waiting for you," she ushered him out.

Jake shrugged. Instead of leaving, he laid down beside her, "Neteyam's there to take care of them," pulling her close to him and spooning her.

Tawn rolled her eyes, "this is why Neteyam always complained about you."

"He did?" he asked, his breath tickling her neck.

Tawn nodded, "yes, he told me how you always told him to watch over the kids and then get mad whenever he protected them from your anger."

Jake hummed, impressed. He turned her around so they were face to face, "you are very chatty all of a sudden," he teased.

Tawn glared at the man in front of her before attempting to turn her back on him. Sadly he wouldn't let that happen.

"Yeah, well, I want them to get along. Did I tell you that I have a strained relationship with my brother?" he asked, his fingers running up and down her spine, tracing anything on her skin.

Tawn shook his head.

"Yeah, I thought pushing them together would prevent that strained relationship. My parents weren't the best at what they did, raising Tommy and me, so I thought if I told him to follow them around, all would be okay," he shrugged as if it was nothing.

Tawn looked at him, concerned. She placed one of her hands on his cheek, "oh, Jake. You're mistaken. You need to work these issues with your boys," Tawn told him.

Jake sighed, "I should," he looked at her, and the corner of his lips suddenly lifted, "I love you so much, you know that, right?"

Tawn nodded, her eyes fluttering. The tension in the room was unbearable. Tawn looked at Jake's hooded eyes. If she didn't know better, he was inching closer to her.

"Jake?" she asked, her hand sliding down from his cheek to his chest, feeling the thunderous beat of his heart on the palm of her hand.

"Oh fuck this," he whispered before crashing his lips on her.

Tawn was surprised, but once he squeezed her waist to bring her down to earth, she closed her eyes and followed his lead. His lips felt rough on hers, but she loved it. She loved that he didn't hold back. Her hands travelled up to his locks, trying to pull him closer to her. The sensation was better than she imagined. It was true when he said the longer they waited, the sweeter the kiss.

Jake turned her on her back, hovering over her, one of his arms wrapped around her waist, making her arch her back slightly, the other placed on the side of her head, propping him up.

Jake slipped his tongue in, making Tawn gasp at the intrusion. She didn't know what to do with his tongue in her mouth.

Her whole body felt hot; she felt something stirring inside her stomach. It didn't help that Jake's lower body was pressed on top of hers. She had the sudden urge to push her pelvis onto his.

Before she could explore the feeling, Jake suddenly pulled away, taking deep breaths, thanking the breathing exercise Tonowari taught him and admired her flushed face.

Tawn was too scared to open her eyes. Why did he stop? Did he not enjoy it? Was she a bad kisser? Doubts cover her head. She tried to push away all the negative thoughts from her head and slowly opened her eyes.

She looked up at Jake's hooded eyes. His pupil was so wide that his yellow iris was almost gone. His lips were swollen and wet. She blushed, knowing it was because of her. He looked so different. He seemed so sensual that Tawn bit her lips not to express any approval.
