"Do you remember what happened before you blacked out?" Zhang asked as Pangzi's ears perked up.
"Yeah...we were attacked by a huge python and then it was covered in vines.....and....some were on my hand....." Wu Xie stopped, brows knitting together as he was in deep thought.
"Tianzhen....are you okay?" Pangzi asked as he looked at the younger male whose face was paler than usual. Wu Xie nodded weakly.
"I had a dream, more like a projection of an old memory." Wu Xie said and Zhang silently urged him to continue, settling down on the ground beside Wu Xie as Pangzi also made himself comfortable, sandwiching Wu Xie between him and Zhang.
"I saw my grandpa and he said that the reason everyone calls me the so called "Chosen One" is because when I grow up, I woukd attain a certain power. One that no one knows." Wu Xie said and Pangzi frowned.
"Power? Okay wait, how did they know you were the chosen one? As far I remember, the reason everyone is so cautious around you is because you are so frail that you get sick very easily. I would have thought that Xiao Hua is the chosen one since he is a lot more tolerant than you." Pangzi said, earning a smack on the head from Wu Xie and a strong glare from Zhang.
"The reason everyone knew it was me because I had the tattoo of a Qilin on my wrist when I was born." Wu Xie said and Zhang's eyes widened.
Tattoo of a Qilin? Is that why I was drawn to him? Wait....could what Zhang Rishan said actually be true?
"Hey Xiaoge? You okay? You seem kinda lost there." Wu Xie asked, carefully reaching out a hand and placing it on the sturdy shoulder blade of the stoic male.
"Yeah I am okay, let's set up a tent here, it is too late to keep on going further." Zhang said as he stood up, stretching out a hand for Wu Xie to hold as the latter gladly accepted.
"Tianzhen...I...lost a tent..." Pangzi said in a low voice as he fiddled with his fingers nervously. He was worried about how Wu Xie would react and more importantly, where he would sleep. Pangzi was scared that Wu Xie might kick him out of his tent and make him sleep on the ground.
"Its okay, I'll just share the tent with Xiaoge again, right?" Wu Xie said, smiling at the older.
"Yeah, sure."
"Phew! I thought you would be mad I lost your tent." Pangzi sighed out in relief as Wu Xie only smiled as he shook his head.
"I'll set up the tent." Zhang said as Wu Xie nodded. "Sure! I'll put up a fire till then." Wu Xie said as he sent a small thumbs up.
"Don't burn yourself."
"Come on Xiaoge! I am a grown up! Trust in me a little." Wu Xie whined. Zhang broke into a small smile as he ruffled the fluffy brown hair.
"Tone down your flirting a bit will ya? I feel like a third wheel here." Pangzi complained and Wu Xie's cheeks flared up.
Which you actually ar-what am I thinking? Zhang couldn't help but allow a small tint of pink settle on his cheeks at the thought. He coughed a bit to chase away his embarrassment and went on his way to set the tent up, feeling slightly happy that he could share the tent with Wu Xie again.
Once the tents were set the trio ate their fill of the dried snacks, warming themselves beside the flame. The orange glow made the scenery look beautiful, as if from a movie.
"Good night you two, I'm so-sleepy." Pangzi cut himself off with a yawn, stretching out his arms.
"Good night Pangzi, sweet dreams." Wu Xie wished back as Zhang gave off a small nod. Zhang put out the fire. It was too dangerous to sleep with the flame still burning as there was risk starting a huge forest fire, plus it can also release carbon monoxide which could kill the trio in their sleep.
"Let's sleep Wu Xie." Zhang said and Wu Xie nodded, following the stoic male into the in silence.
The sleeping bags were again kept in the same position and the duo shared a quick glance before looking away. Wu Xie was the first to lie down followed by Zhang. The younger felt exhausted and fell asleep as soon as hit body hit the sleeping bag, releasing soft snores that indicated just how much the day had drained him.
Zhang laid down on his sleeping bag, and turned to face the sleeping male. Moonlight shone through a small crack in the entrance of the tent, falling on the sleeping male which made Wu Xie look even more beautiful. He rested on his elbow as he admired the male and before he even realized what he was doing, Zhang was hovering over Wu Xie, trapping the younger in between his arms. He leaned forward and soon as their lips were about to touch, he snapped himself back to reality, shaking his head as he quickly withdrew himself back in his own sleeping bag.
Zhang Qiling, just what were you about to do?
Zhang stole another quick glance of Wu Xie as turned once again, this time his back facing Wu Xie as he tried hard to fall asleep. It wasn't an easy task but after a few minutes of trying, he finally managed to turn off his mind and fell into deep slumber.
