Eren's Twin[1] ( Rewrite)

Chapter 3

" Hey, mop-top! " Armin straightened his posture and held a fist to his chest. " Sir! " He gulped under the glare of Keith Shadis. " What do they call you maggot? " Armin glanced at Emma from the corner of his eye. " Armin Arlert from Shinganshina, sir! " Emma stared ahead, trying to avoid eye contact with the loud Commander. " Wow, seriously? Why would your parents curse you with such a dumb name? " Emma and Eren who both stood side by side hid the snickers, Emma bit her bottom lip and Eren closed his mouth tightly. Shadis must've heard the way they snickered because his eyes flashed over to the twins, and his eyebrows shifted as he started at the two. They quickly shut up at the sight of his glare. " Is there something amusing maggot? " Emma nearly jumped at his loud voice, he quickly moved past the row ahead of them. His heavy footsteps neared the Yeager twins. " What's your name maggot? " Emma held her chin high, adjusting her posture and posting a fist to her chest. " Emma Yeager from Shinganshina, sir! " His eyes narrowed. " And why is a runt like you here? " She stared ahead, not allowing her body to flinch at his loud voice. " To join the Survey Core and rid the world of titans, Sir! " He nearly snorted as well. " You'll be good titan bait. " 

" I thought Shadis was going to kill potato girl. " Emma rubbed her head, flattening out her brown hair from the ponytail she once had it in. " I know, one hell of a first day. " Emma stood next to Eren, glancing at the boy named Connie and the potato girl running sluggishly in the field. " She looks exhausted. " Emma muttered, Eren snorted. " She probably is, being told to run till the sun sets didn't seem to bother her nearly as much as losing meal privileges for the next five days. "Six of them gathered around to watch the girl run in the setting sun. " I think she said she was from Dauper, if I remember right, that it's a small hunting village up in the mountains. " 

" Hey what's that? " Eren had everyone look over to the carriage pulling towards the fields. " They're dropouts. They'd prefer to work in the fields. " Emma's eyes flashed over to the female, her name was Mina, then flashed over to Eren. Eren's eyes flashed over from potato girl to the carriage. " But it's only the first day? " 

" That's the way it is. If you can't handle the pressure, you've got to leave. " Eren clicked his tongue in annoyance. He couldn't help but snort at the comment. " I can't believe anyone would rather pull plants than fight. " Emma looked at Eren, she scrunched her eyebrows at his choice of words before nudging her twin. " I know about some of us but you've never mentioned where you were from Eren. " Eren looked over at his twin and his best friend. He stepped back and hugged the two of them close. " The same as my sister and Armin here. From Shinganshina. " The boy known as Connie had his eyes wide, he hesitated before opening his mouth. " You guys are siblings? Wow. "

" You couldn't tell, they almost look the same. Except for the eyes of course. " Mina said, she smiled. Eren and Emma both looked at each other and then back at the few. " That means, you guys were there that day. The colossal one! Did you see him? " Emma's smile slowly fell, and her face fell into a saddened frown. " I think I'm going to take a walk. " Eren didn't have time to reject before Emma ran off. He looked back at the other trainees and then at his retreating sister. " Uh, hard subject. " 

She couldn't help but scoff. She watched her brother enjoy the attention he got from from their encounter with the abnormal titans that ruined their lives. She looked through the window once more before shaking her head and sitting down on the stairs staring off into the night sky. Her knees were tucked to her chest. She ignored the voices inside the dining hall up until the door opened behind her. The candlelit room had shined through the open door and footsteps slowly neared. " Tough first night? " Her lips parted, she looked over at the buff blonde boy. He was tall, way taller than her. His lips lifted the tiniest bit, he approached the girl, stepping down the stairs before sitting beside her. " Something like that. "

His shoulders bounced and a small chuckle left his mouth. Emma stared ahead, not meeting eye contact with the blond, his head tilted towards her slowly and admired her features right before she caught his stare. He almost froze at the sight but quickly adjusted his posture. " Reiner Braun. " He held out his large hand. Her lips curved, she took it and firmly shook his hand. " Emma Yeager. "
