Chapter 3. The Knight

"Look, I can help you and the swatchlings. It's not like I have anything more to do."

"Y/N you don't-"

"Swatch, you look way too overworked. I know you're concerned about me but it's time for you to be worried about yourself. I can get a little dirt on my hands."

"As you wish, master. In the meantime I had something that I thought would be pleasing to you. Follow me."

This time Swatch didn't take your hand. In fact Swatch had been a little weary. Right as you closed the door you looked behind to see the room number. Instead you saw the Queen plastered to the door. She was in an x-shape like she was trying to be sneaky. She was eavesdropping on the entire conversation but you had no problem with it. It wasn't anything too personal. You then decided to ignore her and continue on with Swatch.

After following Swatch for what felt like hours he finally stopped. He brought you to a room that looked like a cathedral. There were pillars that lined the walls filled with bright colors.

"So, what are we doing here?"

"We are here for some simple training." Swatch said.

"Training for what..?" You said.

"Expertise in fighting. Using magic to be more specific" Swatch said while fixing another feather out of place.

"You can fight using magic?!?!" You said in awe.

"You cannot?"

"Well, in the lightner world there is no magic. Maybe some cheap magic tricks but that's about it."

"Ah, I understand. I guess we will start with the basics then." Swatch said while dusting nothing off of his sleek suit.

"Alright, to summon magic you must use your soul as a base power." Swatch said.

"Wait, wait, wait, my soul?!?!?"

"Yes. Do you perhaps not even know about souls? I assume the darkener world must be much more different than the world you are accustomed to." He said.

"Yeah, just a bit" You said while chuckling.

"Hm, perhaps I have to take a much different approach at teaching you then." He said while looking annoyed.

"Alright, I am going to teach you how to channel your soul's energy. First, take a few deep breaths. Then, imagine that your soul is generating energy and feel how the energy flows through your body" Swatch then proceeded to do the same steps. Nothing exciting happened, it was just him breathing deeply.

"Is that it?"

"Yes. Now try."

You took multiple deep breaths and felt nothing. You decided to keep persisting. Suddenly, you felt something different. You opened your eyes and saw your soul. It was white with a faint glow of yellow. You held it in your hands. It didn't touch your hands but instead floated on top of them. You attempted to touch your soul but when you did you felt your body being tickled. Was your soul connected with your body? Was that how it worked?

"Amazing work, Y/N!" Swatch said with excitement. "Now, we will try the best part of all, summoning magic!" Swatch then proceeded to look at you and give you a smile.

"So, how do you summon magic?"

"It's quite simple, use the method you did to summon your soul. Since you have a very interesting color for a soul it seems that you could possibly summon light. Try to summon your soul but concentrate the energy in the palm of your hand."

You attempted to try whatever confusing steps you just heard but it was all in vain. You kept trying and trying and trying but nothing happened. You attempted so many times to the point where you were visibly sweating.
