I twitched and turned in bed, trying my hardest to ignore the ringing alarm. Sighing, I turned off the alarm sitting up against my headboard. “UGH” I groaned, getting up and heading to my bathroom, where I got changed into some comfortable clothes. Grabbing my things, I made my way out of the apartment, getting into my car.
Not even an hour later, I was pulling into the empty parking spot. Grabbing the small duffel bag, I walked into the building where the brown wooden desk sat. “Morning Hope” I said, signing in. “Morning Laura,Dr.Holts asked for you to meet him in his office” She said, smiling at me before typing away on her laptop.
“Ok,Thank you” I said before heading to the elevator. Pressing number 4, I waited patiently until the elevator stopped. Walking out, I headed to the last door on the right. The large black doors read “DR.HOLTS” Sighing, I opened the door slowly.
“Oh,Laura you’re here,This is Eric, my assistant and part-time nurse. He'll be helping you through your beginner process.” He said, rushing me in. Smiling, I placed my hand out, beginning to introduce myself.
“Hi,I’m Laura,” I said, smiling. He smiled, standing up and shaking my hand. "Laura, it's so good to meet you," Eric said smiling, looking me up and down.
I brushed it off as him just reading me, I guess. "Well,Eric, will you be a dear and show Laura around?" Dr.Holts asked Eric.
He smiled, nodding quickly. "Good,oh Laura, here's your keycard. You'll need this to get around." Doctor said, handing me a keycard with an orange strip and my information.
"Thank you," I said, walking out along with Eric. "So first we're gonna start with the activity rooms.
Walking down the hall, there were two bright double doors. Swiping the key card, I pulled the door open, revealing a colorful hall. The walls were a warm yellow with artwork framed over the wall.
The doors are a warm brown with windows looking through them. Lables over the door with white writing.
"Art"
"Potery "
"Gardening " and more. The rooms all had their own aesthetic.
"So these are the activity rooms patients with good behavior come & have free time," Eric said, walking through the halls.
I smiled as we made our way to another section of the floor. "Down there is the cafeteria, now it's pretty tricky cause we've had to section it by most to least dangerous.
"Here I'll show you," He said, unlocking the doors. The cafeteria looked like another hallway. There were rooms with a black scanner with a red light.
"Feels more like a prison…" I whispered while walking around. He chuckled before speaking.
"You're only saying that because you haven’t met the patients." He said, following closely behind. I rolled my eyes.
"If they were prisoners, why would they get free time?" I responded, crossing my arms.
"I ask that same question every day," He said quickly, dismissing my attitude. Walking out the cafeteria
"Well, since we've pretty much seen everything, I guess it's finally time to meet your patients." He said with a hesitant smile.
I smiled happily, following behind the slightly tall male.
