(Shiza's Dress)

I stepped down the stairs and walked towards the dining area. But no one was present there. It was still time left to nine. I stood there awkwardly for few moments not knowing what to do. I looked here and there hoping to find any family member but all I could see was nothing.

So, then I decided to go in the kitchen. I made my way to the kitchen and every other maid was busy either in cooking, cutting or washing dishes. When they heard my footsteps, they stopped their work. They all looked at me and one of the head maid muttered with respect

"Asalamualikum choti bibi."

Her voice was filled with respect. I smiled at her gesture before saying my greetings

"Waalikum asalam. Please just call me Shiza."

But she shook her head and proved her point

"Oh no, I can't do that. You are choti sahiba's bahu. We can't disrespect you in anyway."

My eyes saddened. She is way too elder than me. I then said

"Please you are my elder. I don't like when you call me with such words. Infact I should treat you with respect."

She smiled at me and stated dreamily

"Allah ne is ghar ko ap jesi bahu dekar bara karam kiya ha. Beta, ap boht achi hu."

(God has blessed this house by giving you as a daughter in-law. You are really nice)

I smiled at her appreciating words. She is too good. I then asked them hopefully

"Can I help you with something?"

The head maid turned to me and was about to say something but her words died when one of the younger maid stated quiet rudely

"Choti sahiba didn't like when we ask for unnecessary help."

I know her comment was directed towards me. Her straight forwardness did make me embarrassed and Zubeda khala noticed it. She looked at the maid with narrowed eyes and stated

"Beta, ap ye kia keh rahi hain."

(What are you saying, dear?)

That girl only shrugged and resumed her work. I stood there awkwardly. I think my presence is not wanted there. I still smiled at Zubeda khala and told her

"I guess I shouldn't meddle you all in your work. Easy work for you."

She was about to say something but I didn't stop for that and quietly left the kitchen. On my way to the backyard, I got crashed into something or rather someone. I looked up to find none other than him. He was glaring hard at me. I stumbled back and he spat

"Can't you see while walking?"

I was already shock and his abrupt comment made me flinch. I down casted my eyes before clearing his way. He scoffed dryly and went to take a seat at the table. I sighed heavily.

Atleast, he didn't scold me. Soon, Shehnaz Ammi and the other members also join the table. I didn't fail to notice the scowl Zohra aunty gave when she noticed me standing there. While the others just ignored me and took their respected seats. I was still standing there.

Should I join them too? I don't think it's a good idea because the way Zohra aunty is boring her stare into me, she won't like if I join them. I started to make my way outside but Shehnaz ammi's voice stopped me in my tracks

"Beta, where are you going?"

I turned around and all the heads were turned to me except his. He was still looking down unaffected. I answered unsurely
