"Tsireya, hello," she greeted, stepping aside from Jake.

Tsireya furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, looking at Tawn and then Jake in front of her house. She looked down at Tawn's hand, "oh is that Aonung's new rug?" she asked, walking towards them and grabbing the rug from her hands.

Tawn nodded, giving the rug to her, "please tell him to take care of that one," she said, remembering that sometimes that boy could be so dirty.

Tsireya giggled, "will do," she nodded, then she moved her gaze to Jake, "can I help you, Jake?" she asked, cocking her head.

Tawn noticed the man's eyes widen before looking anywhere but Tsireya. She noticed he was flustered. Tawn bit her bottom lip slightly to hold a smile creeping up her face, she liked watching him get flustered. It was cute, "Jake said he needs to see Tonowari," she interjected, looking at Jake with mock innocence, "am I right, Jake?"

Jake opened his mouth as if to say something before closing it again and nodded franticly, "um—yea that's right, I need to see your father," he said, scratching the back of his head guiltily.

It was refreshing seeing the calm and composed Toruk Makto lose his cool in front of two girls. Tawn had never wanted to laugh so badly because of someone. She really enjoyed watching him lose his composure.

"But dad was out with the other warriors?" Tsireya said, lifting her tone slightly in question. She thought he was also coming along.

Tawn finally couldn't hold back anymore. She laughed at his embarrassed face.

Jake and Tsireya looked at her in surprise, with different reasons.

Tsireya was shocked because of how loud her aunt's laughter was, while Jake was shocked because he realised Tawn had a mischievous side hiding behind her demure and graceful self and gun to his head, Jake really enjoyed seeing this part of her. He enjoyed the melodious laughter coming from her and how her eyes disappeared behind her round cheeks and faint dimples appeared at the corner of her lips.

"What is going on out here?" the familiar voice of Tawn's sister was heard.

Tsireya shrugged, "Tawnie just laughed all of a sudden." still looking at her aunt with confusion.

Ronal, seeing Jake's eyes still glued to Tawn with such softness that she mistook them for something more, just sighed, "Tawn'kiri," she called.

Tawn slowly stopped, huffing and sighing in between breaths, placing one of her hands on Jake's chest, stabilising herself, "I love seeing you so flustered, Jake," she huffed, smiling softly.

Ronal cleared her throat, "are we interrupting something?"

Tawn was caught off guard. She noticed the placement of her hand and immediately lowered it, "Oh my eywa," she exclaimed, moving her hand off his chest and smiling sheepishly at the man, "I'm sorry, Jake."

Jake grinned, "no worries."

Tawn nodded and shifted on her foot, facing her sister, "Ronal, I came by to drop off Aonung's rug," she said, but her sister just raised one of her eyebrows at Tawn, "and I met Jake, who was supposed to see Tonowari," she continued.

Ronal nodded, then ushered Tsireya to the Marui, "just don't be too loud out here, okay," Ronal said slyly, winking at both of them.

Tawn's jaw dropped to the floor. She couldn't believe her sister dared to say that in front of Toruk Makto. She wished for the sea to sweep her off her feet and drown her. Tawn looked up at Jake again. Her heart was beating fast, "I'm going back, Jake. You should too," she said.

Jake huffed loudly in frustration. He was planning to ask her to join him to collect some shells or a quick dive with ilus under the night sky. He cringed at himself. He sounded too hopeless, he was trying too hard. "oh yeah, I should head back," he sighed, surrendering. Who was he kidding? He couldn't do this, not after his loss.

Tawn smiled, waving goodbye before heading towards her Marui, which wasn't far from her sister's. When she arrived at her safe haven, she bowed her head in disappointment. She remembered he was going to say something before Tsireya interrupted them, but she didn't want to be seen as too eager towards Jake. Besides, he didn't stop her when she walked away, so it must've been nothing, right? Right.

She ran her hand through her hair in frustration. She hated this. She hated it. She really needed to move on. She said this repeatedly, but she couldn't seem to follow up on it.

She needed to talk to Eywa. This was too much for her. Jake had just lost his wife, and here she was, hoping he felt something more than friends. She thought about it again, were they friends? She didn't know anything about the man. That conversation was the longest conversation she had had with him. His children sometimes talked about him but only in partial detail, just their daily slice of life back home. Other than that, she had no idea who he really was.

Tawn felt like screaming, yelling, anything just to let out her emotions. This was so typical of her, liking someone because she loved the idea of him. But was it really an idea? She could technically deduct his personality from the stories his children told her, so it was perfectly okay if she liked him because she knew some of him. Right?

She needed to find someone. Yes, that was the best course of action. She needed to keep some distance.

"Eywa, please, why do you put this feeling inside my heart?" she cried to no one.

"Maybe because she wants you to be happy?" a voice made her jump. She turned and saw her sister again. Her heart skipped a beat at the sudden intrusion.

She sighed, putting her head n her hands, "Well, I don't want to be happy. It's overrated anyways," she pouted.

Ronal laughed at her sister's antics, "I saw the way he looks at you," she smiled.

"And?"

"It's how a man looks at someone precious to him," Ronal teased, crouching beside her sister and bumping her shoulder onto hers.

Tawn rolled her eyes, "well, that doesn't prove anything," she replied.

"It proves everything," Ronal shrugged, "it's not my place to tell you this in detail. If you want, you could visit the cove of ancestors and ask Eywa for some guidance," she advised.

Tawn nodded, "yea, I'll go at eclipse," she sighed, "oh by the way, do you have a suitor for me?"

Ronal looked at her with confusion, "what?"

"I want to move on. I need to move on from him," Tawn said, her intention resolving.

Ronal stood up and exited her place before stopping at the front way, "ask eywa for guidance and then talk to me about it again, okay," she left.

Tawn nodded, looking at the doorway.  She sighed dejectedly, lay down on the floor, and closed her eyes. A little rest wouldn't hurt her.
