chapter 1

"Im going out!!" I say to my parents as I descent from our staircase taking a peek into the living room where they were both sitting and reading. My mom looking up from her book tipping her glasses down to get a better look at me - "Alright, drive safe and let us know if you're going to be staying out late" she says as I walk out the door with my keys.

      I always use driving as a escape to clear my mind and relax, especially when it's dark outside because little to no one is on the road. Tonight it was a dark, quiet, sort of warm night since it was getting closer to summer. Unlocking my green Mazda Miata as I walk towards it. My phone automatically connects to the Bluetooth and I shuffle my playlist, Devils Advocate by The Neighborhood comes on and I reverse out of my driveway. Tapping my fingers to the beat as my windows are all down, wind tunneling through the car tossing my hair and ruffling my shirt. Ahead there's a red light that I slowly come up to.

     Simultaneously scrolling on my spotify to find more music to queue, I hear a engine of a motorcycle slowing down to unhurried speed. I glance up in the driver side mirror of my car and see a gorgeous woman in a black leather coat and black pleated dress pants. She pulls up next to my car and flicks her helmet visor open. "You like what you see mama?" She says to me looking inventively in my eyes.

   Are you kidding me right now?!!?? Iris the "quiet shy girl" from my AP physiology class is sitting on her motorcycle right next to me at this red light????

     "So are you going to say anything or just stare at me?" She says once again as I realize that I was staring oops. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY??? WHY IS THIS LIGHT TAKING SO LONG?? Get it together Delilah.

     I clear my throat but right as I was about to say something she speaks again.. "it's a green light love, keep your eyes on the road" gesturing to my phone sorta falling out of my hand, flipping her visor down again, she revs her engine twice before speeding off.
     I slowly press the gas trying to recoup what just happened.. and to think, the shy girl from my class I'm going to ON MONDAY just pulling up in her motorcycle next to me.
    Suddenly I get a text message from my mom

Mom <3
Hi darling Delilah, your dad and I are heading to bed, it's almost midnight. Do you have an estimated time you'll be home?

Hello hello I'm almost home, I'll be pulling up in about 10 minutes
Mom <3 hearted the message

   Pulling into my street I'm still in shock that the Iris the kept to herself girl pulled next to my car in her motorcycle and called me "mama" WOW did my heart do a flip or five. I see this woman in two days.
