I have taken her idea and put a different spin on it but the initial idea is all hers. Thank you friend, for lending me your creativity.

Rain paced back and forth talking to his dad on the phone as Phayu ground the beans for his coffee. Rain still laughed at Phayu's fancy coffee, preferring to drink milk or juice. Couldn't believe Phayu had enough patience to spend that much time on one single cup. Rain was more a grab, pour, and go type, not being bothered with fancy things like Phayu. But, he did like to think that he was one of those fancier things that Phayu enjoyed.

Months ago, Rain had woken up early to surprise Phayu with breakfast in bed. How hard could grinding coffee beans and pouring hot water over them really be? Hard, apparently, pretty hard. Rain had watched Phayu's face turn from a grimace with a barely contained gag to a bright smile as he thanked Rain and declared it delicious. Rain had burst out laughing and torn the mug from Phayu's hands. He ran downstairs and poured it down the drain before Phayu reached the stairs yelling, "Rain, I'll drink it, it's fine!"

Phayu quietly interrupted his conversation asking if he wanted one egg or two, probably knowing Rain only wanted the one, but always asking anyway. Rain slipped back to Thai from Korean to answer Phayu.

"Sorry Pa, Phayu just asked me a quick question. Keep going," Rain returned back to speaking in Korean, listening to his father talk about his latest business trip back to Seoul. He and Phayu had been to see his mom each week for dinner but they hadn't seen Rain's dad in over a month.

"Pa, how about you and Mae come over for dinner next weekend?" Rain looked over at Phayu who smiled and nodded.

Hanging up, Rain walked over to Phayu, wrapping his arms around him from behind.

"Thank you for having my parents over. I know you'll end up doing the cooking, so thank you," Rain murmured into Phayu's back.

Phayu turned around, placing a kiss on Rain's forehead. "Your parents are always welcome here and you know I don't mind cooking. Besides, we want it to be edible."

Rain jabbed Phayu in the ribs, "Harsh Phi, harsh. But ..... True, totally true."

"So, what were you talking about with your Pa?"

Rain tilted his head in confusion, "Weren't you listening?"

Phayu lifted his hand and rubbed it roughly across Rain's hair. "You were speaking in Korean, you silly boy."

Even though Phayu never said so, Rain knew he hated not understanding conversations between Rain and his parents. They would slip back and forth between Thai and Korean without meaning to, leaving an often very confused Phayu desperately trying to follow along without complaint.

"Sorry Phi, he was just telling me about his business trip, boring stuff really, but it was good to talk to him."

Phayu grabbed the plates, "Come, let's eat."

Tossing his bag on the seat beside him, Rain slammed his car door shut and answered his ringing phone.

"Hi Phi," Rain answered. "Just got out of class and I'm headed home. Do you want me to stop and pick something up for dinner?"

"Sorry Rain but I will be late for dinner so you should eat without me."

"Oh, late again?"

"Yes, this project at work is taking longer than expected. I'm really sorry I'll miss dinner again Rain but I'll make it up to you this weekend, ok? Anything you want to do? Movie? Dinner?"

"When will the stupid project be over Phi? It's been months and I'm tired of you being late all the time. This sucks"

"Rain, be a good boy and stop your whining. And use nicer language unless you want to be punished when I get home."

"Awwww Phi, seriously? I'm just complaining about you being late. Are you really going to punish me for that? I've been a good boy all this time and haven't complained."

"Until now."

"Yes, fine, until now. But I miss studying with you after dinner. When will this project be over?"

"I don't know Rain, hopefully soon. I have to go but I love you and I'll be home in time to tuck you in good boy."

"Hmph, fine. I love you to P'Phayu."

Rain pushed open the door to Phayu's office and looked around for someone. The lights were still on so, as he expected, they were still there working. Nearing Mhok's office, he smiled through the glass at him.

Mhok waved him into his office, "Rain, it's good to see you. What are you doing here? Can I help you with something?"

Rain briefly bowed and lifted the bag of food in his hand, "It's good to see you too P'Mhok. I came to bring P'Phayu some dinner since he's working late."

Confusion crossed Mhok's face, "Sorry Rain, but I'm the only one working late tonight. Maybe you misunderstood Phayu? He left a couple hours ago."

Rain wasn't sure how to respond to this. Had he misunderstood? No, there's no way. Phayu had clearly said he was working late. Did that mean Phayu had lied to him? Why? Why would he lie? Phayu never lied. Not to anyone. Never to Rain. If he wasn't here, where could he be?

"P'Mhok? Do you have any idea where he might be?" Rain asked, not sure he wanted to know the answer.

"I'm not sure Rain. You'd really know more than me. You're the one he runs home to after work everyday. That boy would rather take work home than miss dinner with you," Mhok replied, chuckling to himself. "Phayu is one smitten boy, Rain."

Buzzing took over the entirety of Rain's mind. All thoughts left his mind replaced by the terrible noise. He told himself to do something. Say something. He couldn't just stand there in Mhok's doorway.

"Thank you Phi. I'll head out now," Rain whispered, backing away towards the exit. So, Phayu had not been staying late for work all this time? What did that mean? It meant Phayu had lied to him. Actually lied. To him.
