 "Your uncle is a menace, a criminal. Let us escape him together."

The butler took her hand and dragged her out of the building. Ophelia's mind was racing and she didn't understand what was going on. Her eyes were blurry from tears as they bolted across the lawn.

BANG!

There was a gunshot, and beside her, the butler fell to his knees, blood oozing from the wound through his heart. Ophelia screamed as the blood spurted onto her face and clothes.

"Run..." the butler whispered on his dying breath. She looked around, terrified, then sprinted out as fast as her legs would carry her.

An hour later, she fell onto her mother's doorstep, gaunt and almost lifeless.
