The Keeper floated in her abyss, her codex hovering in front of her. Her pointed ears twitched in boredom. There wasn't much else to do aside from read through her codex's spells (she knew all of them by heart), put on some music (she knew every song in every timeline so well it was almost painful to hear some songs again), or check the ever-present, ever-constant timelines (which never, ever, ever changed...at least, 99.99% of the time). A small, stupid part of her wished something would happen to the timelines, to the dimensions they all contained. Something to keep her entertained for once. She was so, so bored, unable to do anything aside from this stupid job she was assigned to by the cosmos. She sighed, flipping through her codex again as "Crazy Train" blared in the background.

A small blip in one of the timelines made her peek up from her manuscript. She hovered over to it, her clawed feet kicking at the cosmos gently to bring her closer to the timeline in question. She looked at it, taking a quick peek into the timeline. It showed nothing but a barren wasteland, entire planets laid to waste and destroyed to rubble. Earth fared no better, a gray, dusty husk of what it used to be. The only living creature that was there was a large, blonde man, muscular despite there being no life around to sustain his frame. The Keeper watched from her position behind the cosmic curtain, curious as to what this man was doing. This could make for a nice break, she thought to herself.

The man went around to various blobs on the ground, gray and ashy as everything in the environment. The man bent down and started to poke through the husks, which The Keeper quickly realized were bodies. Deformed, charred, destroyed bodies, laid to waste by  whatever tragedy had destroyed this planet. She saw the man stick his fingers into the neck of one of the bodies, and she watched him force the body to deflate. Almost as if he was draining the body of blood, or fluids....? The Keeper was fascinated, coming to the conclusion this man was a vampire. A lonely one, by the way he carried himself and the reluctance with how he drained the body. It seemed like he was only forced to do this to stay alive, that he had no other choice. He was alone, with no one else around.

The Keeper took pity on him, especially since she knew what a blip meant she had to do to a timeline - and the dimension it contained. In an act of defiance to the cosmos (the first one in far too long), she opened a portal to another random timeline, a dimension that wasn't ravaged in the way this one was. She saw the man look around, confused; the half-gas mask on his face obscured some of his features, but it was easy for her to see he was confused and wary. He stepped towards the portal slowly, and The Keeper let the portal show what was beyond it. The portal led to a park, dimly lit by the moon above and the lights in the park. The man seemed to sniff the portal, and his eyes sparkled with something positive. He still stayed still, as if hesitating going through.

Come on, vampire. Just go through. I'm trying to save you, The Keeper urged silently. Almost as if he heard her, the man finally stepped through the portal, and The Keeper sincerely hoped he would lead a better life - and that he wouldn't kill anybody. If he did, then the poor lonely vampire would have to be destroyed, fully and permanently erasing the entirety of his dimension.

The Keeper retreated back into her study, looking at the tag of the timeline. It read U-770, the number the universe was classified under. There were trillions upon trillions of timelines everywhere within The Keeper's study, each with their own unique U tag. Many had numbers, many had signs, and many had both. Some had classifiers beyond human comprehension, such as feelings evoked from such symbols, or smells from the colors of the timelines. The Keeper was able to decipher all of them, understanding each and every one in its entirety, as it was her eternal job. She sighed to herself, hearing another small blip.

Timeline U-770 was starting to converge into another timeline, one that wasn't ravaged like U-770. The Keeper had to act quick if she was to keep everything intact for the greater cosmos. Taking U-770 in her hands, she pulled it away from the innocent timeline, shattering their budding connection. With a firm tug, she yanked it towards her, balling it up tightly. Her hands started to glow, and within a few moments, it was nothing but cosmic atoms in her hands. She tossed the atoms up, watching them sprinkle and rain across the cosmos. The Keeper sighed, floating back to where she rested before.

Disposing of timelines was her least favorite part of the job. She was lucky this time it wasn't full of souls she would have to completely erase from existence. That always gave her a sense of sadness and despair, a deep guilt she would think of for weeks. The empty husky ones like U-770 were always easier to deal with, the ones with a soul or two she could easily relocate. She wasn't supposed to do so, of course, but no one had ever given her any issues before. Plus, if she needed to do some damage control, she knew how to go into the timeline and fix it before irreparable damage was done.

As she floated there, The Keeper flipped through her codex. She went to her list of favorite timelines, dimensions she loved to investigate when she felt she had a free moment. They were few and far between (compared to the rest of the multiverse, but a lot to the casual viewer, she supposed), but the joys of watching the goings-on of such universes gave her small moments of pleasure in her existence of mediocrity. She browsed through the list, her clawed finger running down the page gently...

Note: This is where you can find my other stories and the name of the protagonist! I will upload their corresponding stories and/or basic info as I write, so check back here to see if anything new has cropped up! It's an extremely long list, which means some of them may either have only one-shots, shorter stories, or are just here to be listed. I'll have to see what happens with everyone (as I have an excessive "create characters that nothing happens to" problem), especially if I'm to keep up with other stuff I have planned!

Note Part II Electric Boogalo: For when I actually get to writing that part, that vampire The Keeper saved was Brando, the friendly Dio Brando from another dimension!
