"I mean, we knew her, of course, but uh- no" You shook your head, glad for the reprieve of everybody else arriving in the doorway behind her.

"There she is." Rossi grinned, pulling Emily into a hug whilst JJ did the same to you.

"Hi, Jayje." You mumbled into her hair, breathing a sigh of relief when the crushing hug was loosened.

"We missed you." She smiled largely. "How are you?"

"Good. We're good, it's so great to see you guys."

"Oh, brainiac, I love the do."

"Nice hair, genius."

You and Emily spoke at the same time which amused the group and you shared a smile as Reid sheepishly moved his hair with his hand under your stares.

"Thank you for coming."

"Of course. Rossi and JJ are heading to the crime scene, I'm assuming the two of you want to join?"

"You assume right."

AT THE CRIME SCENE

"You must be the feds. I'm McCleary, this is Rollins." The detective introduced from beside the car that was the crime scene.

"I'm SSA Rossi. This is Agent Jareau and Agents Prentiss and Y/L/N are here with Interpol."

"This is it right over here." He answered, guiding you all over towards the car.

"What can you tell us about the victim?"

"Her name was Camille Harrison - a 26-year-old bartender from Yonkers. Cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head."

"There was someone else in there - see the blood splatter on the passenger seat?"

"Yeah, we picked up on that. Figured the shooter was standing right here outside the driver's side window while Ms Harrison was at the wheel."

"You find any blood trails?"

"No, but it rained last night, compromised the scene."

"If someone else was here, that matches the M.O. of the Son of Sam murder. Berkowitz's first victims were two girls he shot in a car." You spoke.

"One of them was only hit in the leg and survived," Emily added.

"But you're assuming there was a second victim - we only got one stiff." The detective answered cockily and the two of you shared a knowing look.

"My bet is, they got out of the car and went this way," you began walking along the street motioning for them to follow. "This is where the closest busy street is. And maybe I'd stumble and - I've got something here. You have an evidence collection kit in your car?" You finished when you found a smear of blood on a metal post, Emily smiled at you at the way you'd stunned the detectives into silence with your act of expertise.

"Yeah. Yeah, I do." He nodded whilst JJ and Rossi just hid the amused smirks behind their hands.

BACK AT THE OFFICES

You sat beside JJ at the table when Emily returned with a tray of takeout coffees balanced in her hands.

"Oh, I remember why I missed you so much." The blonde spoke, reaching out for the cup Emily passed her with a shocked look on her face.

"Aw, Em, she only likes you for your coffee delivery." You pouted teasingly.

"Fine, I'll keep yours."

"No." You gasped. "I love you for everything, I just appreciate the coffee as an added bonus,"

"Okay, fine but you," she answered, passing you your drink as she looked at JJ. "Need to watch your back."
