"uhm.. i don't know. probably my tits." cherry shrugged.

"i just wish he liked me the way he likes you."

"oh, i'm sorry."

"it's okay. but you like him, don't you?"

"no. i'm just fucking him, leia. i can stop, though. if you want me too."

leia said nothing.

"it's fine." she said. "he likes you, so i'm not gonna separate you guys. besides, i don't even know if i do like him. maybe i just want a boyfriend really bad."

"you'll find a boyfriend." cherry glanced over at gwen. "or a girlfriend."

leia was shooting a basketball into the hoop.

cherry was on her way to hangout with leia, but jay beat her too it.

he owed it to himself to be with leia, a girl who would actually like him.

"hey." leia said, awkwardly.

"hey. i heard you were grounded. i am, too. that tiger sweat stuff burned a hole in our carpet. now my moms pissed." jay greeted.

the night before, the entire group got caught at the rave by leia's grandpa.

most of them got in trouble.

"look, i just wanted to apologize for how things went." jay apologized.

"it's okay. we both got kinda caught up in it." leia nodded.

"look. i really am the guy you thought i was, okay? i'm done playing games. how about on the count of three, we both say how we feel about each-other? for real this time."

"okay."

the pair counted down from 3.

"i like you." jay admitted.

"i think we should just be friends." leia said, at the same time.

"wait, friends? like ross and rachel?"

"more like joey and chandler. look, the summers not that long. let's not complicate it. so, friends?"

"sure, friends."

jay walked off, defeated.

cherry watched as he walked away.

she approached leia, silently.

"can i still fuck him for my entertainment?" cherry asked.

"if you want. i don't really care." leia lied.

cherry looked up from her bed.

jay took a seat in front of her.

"you're here? again?" cherry questioned.

jay shrugged.

"i thought you liked leia?" cherry set her phone down.

"does that matter to you?" jay asked.

cherry shook her head.

for once, jay was grateful that cherry didn't care about anyone beside herself.

just as usual, he pressed her lips against hers.

jay hoped that this would make him feel fine.

he was never going to stay away from her. he could lie and say he was going too, but he never would.

he needed someone to love him.

to truly understand him.

cherry wasn't that.

she was the opposite. she hated him, she used him just for fun.

she'd made it very clear that there were no strings attached.

but, jay ignored that, and fell for her anyways.

he knew she felt nothing for him, and he continued to surround himself with her.

she was the problem he was trying to escape, and he continued to go to her.

he returned to her lips, to her room.

jay didn't care about any other girl except valentine, even though she hated him.

he could have any girl he wanted, and he wanted the one girl who didn't want him.

why?

what was it about her that she liked so much?

he didn't know.

but he knew he liked the when she'd lie to him, and say he was hers in the moment.

so, he was hers for the night.

"get out." cherry said, pulling away.

she couldn't get the image of leia out of her mind.

the sad look on her face.

"but.. i really like you." jay confessed, quietly.

"that's your problem, not mine." cherry shrugged.

she tried to keep the smile off her face.

her plan had worked.

she was halfway done.

in a way, they were just using each-other.

except jay was weak, and had fallen in love instantly, and cherry didn't care.

"do you really want me to leave?" jay questioned.

"no." cherry said, and leaned into him again.

jays heart beat faster.

everything was so fucked up.

what was he supposed to do?

he loved her so much, and she only loved him in private.

she was only using him.

the only time she was slightly listening to him was when she was in her bedroom, reminding herself what he did to flor.

reminding herself that he was a bad person.

ignoring the desperate look in his eyes, and their hearts beating in sync.

she ignored everything the same way jay did.

jay said everything was fine, that he didn't care that cherry was fucking other guys, or that she didn't care about him.

he stayed up awake at night, waiting for a text that sometimes didn't arrive.

he would do anything for her.

he truly was addicted, and the pain felt so good.

jay knew that cherry wasn't a good person, that she wasn't good for him, yet he continued to go to her room every night.

cherry knew him better than he knew himself.
