The Begining

It was a calm and quiet afternoon in Lakewood, Colorado. Crystal Line and her friends, Mia and Chloe, were walking down the street. They were all sixteen and loved summer. Crystal's mom, Celeste Line, had died last year of cancer.
Crystal didn't like talking about her mom much. She had a great relationship with her but that made it so much harder. Mia and Chloe understood this and tried not to talk about it so much.
"Want to go to the ice cream shop?" Mia asked.
"YES!" Chloe exclaimed.
Chloe's favorite place was the ice cream shop. Mostly because they also served deep fried food.
"Sure," Crystal shrugged.
Crystal was definitely in a mood. Mia and Chloe could tell. Crystal hadn't been the same since her mom had died. She was always having these moods where nothing sounded fun to her. She was living in her mind, reliving all the memories.
And it made it really hard to have fun.
Crystal also had a fun mood. But she usually went all out. She was either on top of the world with joy, or at rock bottom with sadness and grief.
As they were walking Crystal thought she heard her name. She looked around but didn't see anything. When she heard her name again she stopped.
"What's the matter?" Chloe asked.
"Nothing. I need to get some money from the bank. You guys go ahead," Crystal said.
"Alright...," Mia said hesitantly. She didn't like leaving Crystal by herself, for fear of her doing something she was going to regret.
They walked away.
When they were far enough away, Mia whispered to Chloe. "She seems off. Should we follow her?"
"Relax, Mia. Crystal can take care of herself. Let's just go to the ice cream shop. She'll join us in a bit," Chloe said.
Mia sighed, realizing Chloe was right. They walked the rest of the way to the ice cream shop, not even seeing what was going on behind them.
Crystal watched Mia and Chloe walk away. They wouldn't understand what Crystal was going through. They say they do, but there's no way they actually do.
When Mia and Chloe were big specks in the distance, Crystal heard her name again and turned around. Then all of the sudden she was blindfolded, gagged, and her hands were tied behind her back.
