A FIGURE DARTED THROUGH THE FOLIAGE, quick steps causing clumsy movements while they stumbled around sharp surfaces. Broken shells poked out from the rough sand, having shattered from years of being stepped on, filled with desire to cut the feet that moved around them. Awa'atlu was known for being surrounded by the gorgeous reefs and adorned with the silkiest sands, but deep within the heart of the island it was home to rugged terrain. Mangrove trees were complimented by thick foliage, accompanied by bountiful amounts of fruits and other herbs. For Mekanei it felt like a whole new world, with time flying by as she laid among the mangrove roots.

Which is why the girl had now lost track of time.

"Shit, shit.." Mekanei stammered, trying to regain her footing after vaulting over a root. Her mother's reminder plagued her mind and she knew the woman would be furious. It wasn't uncommon for the young na'vi to disappear for a few hours, but when she was entrusted with a tedious task that caused some issues.

It was simple. Collect some ingredients that would aid in making a paste to relieve wound pain. Though you could say Mekanei got distracted midway through, and may have forgotten what she was even supposed to be gathering. Now it was long overdue, and the girl was forced to scramble back to the village with the few ingredients she managed to grab.

As Mekanei sprinted towards the clearing ahead, something within the sky had captured her attention. A flock of winged creatures were flying up ahead. The girl squinted, teal orbs peering past the sunlight rays to try and identify said creature. She gasped in recognition at the Ikrans her father had taught her about. Though Mekanei didn't get a chance to even question their appearance, before her head had slammed against the trunk in front of her.

The young girl hit the ground with a thud. Locks of curls framed around her face, tangling in with the sand around her. Mekanei let out a series of curses as she clutched her head, a throbbing pain stemming from her forehead as she tried to catch her bearings.

A shadow was soon cast over the girl's figure. Mekanei didn't have to look up to know who it was, but for the sake of respect she did. Teal eyes clashed with a harsh azure, the stare practically venomous. Mother.

"Mother! I must've lost track of time, I-"

Ali'imalu was far past being disappointed in her daughter. All that was left was anger and a pleading for her to start growing up. The excuses were getting more frustrating by the minute, she wondered if her youngest would ever be able to find a mate at this point.

The woman raised a hand silencing her daughter immediately. Frustration radiated off her in waves, causing anyone close enough to shiver. Although before she could reprimand Mekanei, a horn sounded around the island. New people.

"We're needed. Get up child."
