"Well your family would like to get ice cream and make it home for the welcoming ceremony so eyes on the road Mr." He laughed focusing back on the road.

"You all don't have to come. It's not a wedding you know, just imbeleko. We're introducing him to the ancestors." I told the ladies as I grabbed the last of our stuff to pack as the kids bags were already packed and ready. "It's a family affair and so we'll be there." Sizakele said and variations of the others agreement came through. Nothing I'd say would deter them so I let it go. "What time should we get to the airport?" Amy asked "Danielle please throw away that frog or you're staying behind with great aunt Matilda!" Footsteps were heard before the door shut closed.

"When we get to the airport someone who loves me and doesn't want me to strangle their niece wi give me a shot of Vodka. "I'm back in the game baby! So I got you." Zandi winked pulling out a flask from between her nursing bra. "How do you plan on getting past airport security with that?" Manga asked. "I thankfully married a lawyer so my cell remains empty just a little longer." Making everyone laugh. "Goodluck explaining to that husband why you're drinking whilst nursing his offspring." Fezeka said. "No ladies say your goodbyes otherwise we'll be on this call until Jesus returns." ZiKhona reprimands and we indeed say our goodbyes after I tell them we takeoff at 19:40. Which leaves everyone with 2h30 to get ready and make it in time to the airport.

The chaos ensued as soon as our group barrelled into the airport with wails from infants, bathroom breaks and whines about being hungry. "Zandi darling, save me!" Amy asked as soon as she set eyes on my cousin. "Bathroom." Zandi said smiling sweetly up at her husband before handing him baby Zotha and the sweet man knowing no better took the baby and the pair dashed to the bathrooms nearby.

"The jet's ready. Are we all here." Yanda asked. "Yes." Amy and Zandi chimed walking over to us with smiles ready to take on our chaos with renewed strength. Siza and I made eye contact and chuckled. Three baggage handlers came over to help with our luggage and we made our way to airport security.

"Okay I booked an air BnB for the weekend. It's a 12 bedroom house and half an hour away from home and hired out 3 v classes I think that's enough to Accommodate us all." Thobeka announced just as the plane was about to land. "You're the best. Thank you Thobeka." I said from across her. "If we left it to you you might have just ditched us." Fezeka teased. "As if we'd let her get away with welcoming little Asi without us." Wandile joined in. "These ladies would drag us there kicking and screaming in the wee hours of the night just so we'd make it in time whether you liked it or not." Qophelo added and
My girls didn't even bother denying it. "I need the loo mama" Sisekelo said to his mom. "Just go in your nappy boy. We have to remain in our seats now." Fezeka asked but a frown of displeasure etched on Menzi's carbon copy. "Mama baba says real men use the loo they don't make a mess in their pants and I'm a real man." He folded his arms defiantly. Fezeka glared up to her husband who only smiled back at her in gleeful pride and our nimrod husbands clapped him on the back. "Babe we never have to spend sleepless nights potty training again" Njabulo said to  Siza. "Take notes gents, it's that easy." Menzi boasted basking in his mates praises. Such tomfoolery!

Fezeka thrust their three year old who seemingly couldn't hold through the landing it into her husband's arms and the husbands were now quick to flee from the stench leaving their dear friend to fend for himself. So much for camaraderie.
"Real men also change nappies." Now it was Fezeka who grinned back at her husband before we all broke out laughing at the sour look on his face. "Are you sure you don't need a bomb squad for that one?" Manga asked and we fell into another fit of guffaws. He sulked carrying his son out the plane and we all followed behind them.  Still laughing.

"Babe are you sure we should be doing this before the adoption is finalised? I mean he's ours in all the way that matter but isiphandla makes it permanent even to our ancestors. Shouldn't we wait until after." The uncertainty sat like a heavy weight at the bottom of my tummy. I'd hate for us to do something that's jeopardise our chances. Yanda pulled me into a searing kiss that had me momentarily setting all my worries aside and revelling in my feel of my husband's body against mine.
