The Bad Batch

Part 4: Not Safe Anymore

He turned the gun around and offered it back to me. I took the gun with my hand and with that, all of them left into the forest. Wrecker offered me my helmet which I took. I turned around towards my brothers when I thought that I heard something inside the forest. After not seeing anything I began to walk towards the ship with my team following me. 

Tech: "At least with the Republic we knew where we stood. Tarkin and this Empire are a whole different story."

He said as he came to our ship.

Crosshair: "Why are we debating this? We need to complete the mission."

Echo: "Wake up Crosshair. They sent us to eliminate innocent civilians."

Crosshair: "Who said they are innocent?" 

I turned around in anger.

Me: "What's wrong with you?"

Crosshair: "Me? I'm following orders."

He said as he turned his body towards me.

Me: "Exactly."

I began to walk towards him.

Crosshair: "Those insurgents are plotting against the Emperor. If you don't have the stomach to do what needs to be done, then you are not fit to lead this squad."

Suddenly hearing something behind him I pulled out my gun and shot the droid down. I knew that it had been following us ever since we came to the planet. 

Me: "We're being followed."

I said to Crosshair as I placed my gun behind my waist. Walking past him I began to approach the droid that I shot down and saw that it was the droid from our base.

Tech: "It's a robe droid."

Wrecker: "Tarkin spying on us now? Jedi never did that."

Crosshair: "Not that you know off."

At that moment I remembered what Lunar said to me back on Kamino.

Me: "Lunar."

I turned around and began to walk towards the ship.

Echo: "What about her?"

Me: "She warned me about the mission. And Tarkin. She said not to return to Kamino that it's not safe for us anymore."

I said as I came back to our ship and then looked back at them. 

Wrecker: "Maybe she's right.

Crosshair: "We are taking a word of a human woman?"

Tech. "I would not discount Lunar's insight. A state of heightened awareness is not unusual for an enhanced clone such as herself."

Wrecker: "Hahaha. Good on tech. You almost had me."

He said as he took a seat on the ground.

Me: "She's a clone?"

Tech: "When she first spoke to us I tried to find a female clone and the only one that I found was her. There wasn't a lot to read about her but one thing is for sure. We do not share the same DNA."

Echo: "And you waited until now to tell us?"

Tech: "Well I thought it was obvious."

Wrecker: "How is it obvious?"

Me: "We are going back for her." 

I made my way towards the ship but Crosshair came on my path. 

Crosshair: "Disobeying orders again over a woman? Bad play, Hunter." 

He placed a hand on my shoulder but I pushed it away as I began to board the ship. But I stopped myself and looked back at him.

Me: "She is in danger and we are not leaving without her." 

Lunar's POV 

The doors in front of me opened and I stepped into the room. I knew that I shouldn't be here but something was pulling me here. Thunder flew past the window making me jump a little. I wasn't a really big fan of thunders. Stepping further into the room the lights turned on and I was able to see the whole room. 

AZI: "We should not be here miss. Nala Se instructed you to stay in the medical wing." 

Me: "I'm feeling much better now. Don't worry. We're on a research assignment." 

I said as I looked back at him. He quickly came to me. 

AZI: "A research assignment? Those are my favorites. What are we searching for?"
