Venerra held her cup out to him. "More please."
Chuckling at her, he filled the cup again and gave it back. "Drink this one more slowly. I don't want you getting sick."
"Okay Varian!" she said, holding the cup and heading out into the living room with it.
He smiled after her, shaking his head and following.
Elle turned and smiled slightly at Venerra before going back to looking around, heading for the kitchen as Varian left it, heading for the couch Nathan sat at. Nathan watched his mother and shook his head.
"What?" Varian asked, taking a seat next to Nathan on the couch.
Venerra came around and climbed up, wiggling her way into the space between them with her cup of water, sipping at it with a contented smile on her face.
"Nothing." Nathan answered with a quiet sigh, glancing down at Venerra before looking back up at Elle. "Just wondering where this sudden interest in you is coming from, is all."
"My parents would be interested in you too, if they were still here." Varian replied, glancing down to Venerra. "It's only natural to want to know more about a person that's important to somebody important to you."
Nathan hummed quietly in response, and Elle came back in from the kitchen, saying, "Well Varian, this is a rather nice place you have."
Looking up at Elle, he smiled. "Thank you. My parents built it, I just maintain it."
"They did a good job. What are they like, your parents? Nathan's never mentioned them."
"They're both Changed vampires, but I don't know a whole lot about them." Varian replied. "My father stayed at home and worked, and my mother was the one who had a job in town."
Elle frowned slightly for a second before nodding. "Ah. Well then. This is a pretty big place to be maintained by one person. Especially an eighteen-year old. Regardless of whether or not you're Changed."
"It's work, but Nathan helps. And I'm looking for a farmhand."
Maintaining eighty acres and the farm that went with it was difficult, but it was his job. His property. He was going to work for it if it meant he could still call it home.
"Well that's good."
Varian nodded. He could definitely use a farmhand. Either human or Mortal, to help work when it was too hot for him. "You can sit if you'd like. You don't have to stand."
Elle made her way over to the loveseat and sat there.
Neither she nor Nathan made any move to speak, and Varian could see where he got it from. He figured Nathan might start feeling a little awkward if nothing else was said, so he decided to pipe up.
"Find anything interesting while looking around?"
"...I don't know how to correctly respond to that." Elle replied with small frown.
Varian shrugged. "I was just curious is something caught your interest is all. I don't mind answering questions."
Venerra still sat quietly, sipping her water. She pulled it away to peer down into the blue plastic cup, smiling at her reflection before going back to sipping it, shifting so she cuddled up against Nathan.
Varian smiled softly at her, watching her for a moment until Elle spoke. "I will admit that I'm curious about your parents, but I won't ask about them." She paused and raised her eyebrows. "I am curious, however, about what happened when you got sick. Nathan didn't tell me much."
