Saving Me [MxM]

Chapter 04 (Part One)

Varian nodded. Apparently his house was the ideal cure to boredom. Nathan came here because he was bored, his friends did, Jecklynn did, and now Elle.

"I don't mind. If you were the twins, I would, but you're not, so you're good being here."

Elle's smile seemed to falter at the mention of the twins, and Nathan snorted quietly. "You guys act like they're terrible." he said.

"They're not bad, now that Justin has a distraction." Varian relented, smirking at Nathan.

Nathan shuddered at that, and Elle raised an eyebrow. "I'm not going to ask." she said.

"No explanation could do it justice." Varian agreed. "Anyway, you probably don't want to stand outside all day, so if you want to come in, you can."

Elle was going the extra mile to be nice to him, so he wasn't going to do anything that could upset her. If that meant letting her into his house, he would.

"That would be appreciated, thank you."

"No problem." Varian replied, smiling as he got up, turning to look at Venerra who was sitting silently in the grass, watching him with blue eyes. She was happy. Good. "You should come in too, Venerra. Bring Belle."

Elle turned to glance at Venerra, while Nathan slowly get up from the step they'd been sitting on and stretched his arms over his head.

Venerra scooped up Belle as Varian opened the door and stepped back to let Nathan and Elle in. She came running, holding the kitten protectively as she bounded up the steps.

Nathan entered first with Elle following, and as soon as Elle crossed the threshold into the living room, she stopped to glance around interestedly.

Varian couldn't think of why it was so interesting. It was a living room, but he supposed walking into somebody's house required a moment to look around.

Reaching for Venerra, he gently steered her towards the kitchen while shutting the door with his free hand. "Put Belle down and wait for me in the kitchen. I'll get you some water in a second."

Venerra beamed up at him before bending and letting the cat down who stalked off down the hall towards his room. Varian wouldn't be surprised if she was going to sleep on his bed. She liked to switch back and forth between him and Venerra.

"Feel free to look around if you want." he told Elle, following Venerra into the kitchen.

Elle nodded slightly, looking around the living room for the most part while Nathan chose to sit on the couch.

Once in the kitchen, Varian went over to the cup cupboard and withdrew a plastic blue one for Venerra. He'd drunk out of this cup when he was young too, so it was nice to have her use it.

She hovered at his hip, holding onto his tank top and peering up at him curiously.

"Yes, Venerra?" he asked, turning on the tap and letting it run for a bit so it would be cold.

"Nathan's Mommy isn't mad at you anymore." she said.

Varian smiled. "No, I guess not." he replied, putting the cup under the water and filling it three quarters of the way before turning off the tap and handing it to Venerra. "She's being nice."

Venerra took the cup and raised it to her lips before sucking it down, some water escaping her mouth in her hurry and running down her chin.

Varian arched a brow at her, reaching over and grabbing a paper towel to wipe the water with. "Want more, or are you good?" he asked, catching the water running towards her neck and tossing the paper towel in the trash.
