I do as I'm told and stand. As I stand I notice how overbearingly tall he is compared to me. His big sea blue eyes stare at me and he says,

"It's been a long time since I've seen you, I hope you are doing well."

All I can do is stand there, I don't know what to say or do. I'm frozen in my place. I know it is rude to do so but how would I address him anyways without showing the amount of respect he deserves.

He puts his hand on my shoulder and a surge of energy runs through me. He then says,

"I am aware this is hard to take in. I hope after some time you become comfortable here." He then looks around with his powerful gaze and states to the other people in the room,

"Leave, my people. I would like some time alone with my son." Immediately after this Arina and all the other people in the room start filing out the big doors until it is just me and my I guess father are left.

"Please, Trent do you have any questions?" I start to ask a question but I become afraid of what he might do if it's something he doesn't like. He must have sensed that and added,

"Don't worry, son, I will not get angry at your questions. I have given you an open invitation to ask me anything." This gives me a little of reassurance but I'm still intimidated so what comes out of my mouth is a little shaky,

"Who who are you?" His eyes light up a little.

"That's a great question Trent. I am the great god of the sea, Poseidon." I have always thought of Greek gods as fictional characters until now.

"What does that make me then."

"It's simple, Trent. You are the demigod of the sea." He looks at me with intense eyes and continues, "It doesn't seem as though your powers have bloomed to their potential as of yet."

"What do you mean by powers." He must be talking about my gills and breathing underwater but if there are more I wonder what it could be.

"Let me start off by apologizing for the unfortunate greeting we had. I had assumed your powers had bloomed fully and I had not dimmed my powers to compensate for your lack. Your body was overwhelmed and passed out before I could act." He says this with sad eyes and puts his hand on my shoulder. "I'm curious as to why your powers haven't fully developed yet. Usually it happens the day of the demigods twenty-first birthday."

"I'm sorry, but what powers are you talking about? Right now all I can do is breath underwater and have gills." It was strange actually saying it out loud.

"Ah, yes I have been watching you and did know you could breath underwater. This was especially good because without it you couldn't have gotten here. As for the other powers, well that can change from one demigod to the next. Of course it will be something to do with water but it is up to your body as to the extents of that." I hesitate with my next question but I ask it anyway,

"Do you know this from experience?" He gives me a bit of a surprised look and puts is hand back on my shoulder,

"Don't worry my son, it's been a very long while since I've had any children with mortals." This wasn't really the answer I was going for but I go on with the questions,

"So if that's the case then what made my mom different and why you weren't there for me all of my life?" He looks at me with a sad look on his face.

"Ah, the life of an immortal. You will soon understand the pains of loving someone but watching them grow old. Also it is forbidden by Zeus to reveal ones self to a mortal these days and when your mother became pregnant with you I had to leave. If I hadn't there would have been to many questions, to many unknown variables to compromise my orders. I am truly sorry I could not have been with you during the early part of your life. I had to wait until your powers had started to bloom to reveal myself." This all seemed to make sense I think but I ask,

"What will I being doing now that I am here?"

"That's a very good question, Trent." There's a short silence. "I need to teach you the ways of the Olympians, I'm sorry to tell you this but there's a war coming and I need you to help me fight in it."
