okay before we begin HI HI HELLO :WAVING: )

( Stray isn't my idea! Credits go completely to the creators. And so do the characters! I'm assuming you're reading this because you're a fellow stray lover! :)

This is basically a self insert book :mind blown: wow!! It follows the main plot but iv'e changed it a bit to fit better! )

But with a spin! The readers a cat too. Accompanying our lovable little ginger protagonist )

I made the little ginger furball male in this story! To make writing easier for myself, the reader is gender neutral! )

This chapter is mainly just the reader having wholesome interactions + lot's of jumping and running. ( Then it gets depressing )

( This is a shorter chapter! Others are longer, mainly just a build up! :)

Your sides rose and fell in a peaceful motion. Silent as you slept, secluded with your nose tucked into your fluffy tail.

Your ears twitched. A strong scent of rain wafted over your nostrils, recoiling slightly from the smell. Scents of garbage and rust mingled in the rain. 

Pushing your wet nose back into your paws, trying to drift off into your previous dreamless sleep. But a clap of thunder made the fur along your spine spike, and you swooped your head up, blinking. 

You yawned, whiskers twitching. Getting up to stretch, your belly fur brushed the worn cardboard you were sleeping on below you. Your vision a blur before it readjusted. Noticing your fellow group members were already awoken. 

Your ears rotated as you heard shuffling behind you, knowing from the scent it was the pure ginger. You could hear his weight drop onto all fours, creeping up on you. 

You acted oblivious, waiting for him to make the first move. A silence protruded for a moment, before you heard him leap gently, he was aiming for your back, planning to ambush you. You whipped around almost instantly, falling onto your back as he landed on your belly, claws sheathed. You gently nipped his scruff and turned him over, with you now bearing over him.

He blinked at you with his green eyes, your tail playfully flicked his side before you leapt off him. Sitting down to readjust yourself, grooming your chest to make the ruffled fur smoother. Your scuffle buddy came over and also licked you behind the ear, you gave a small purr. Watching him run off to bug your fellow black pelted comrade. Attacking her tail and biting it playfully, her fur ruffled and she let out a small hiss, getting up and pawing back at him. Grooming his head afterwards.

He did similar actions to greet the other two, before waddling back over to sprawl out on the cardboard, the other three coming to lay beside him as well. You let out a "merp?" at them, you had just awoken. But they planned on sleeping, seeing you weren't going to change their minds, you made yourself present by laying in the middle of the gathered circle of fluff, pelts mingling with one another.

When you awoke yet again, sun filtered into your eyes, wincing as your pupils dilated from the light. You shook yourself, stretching yet again and ruffling your pelt. 

You could feel a smaller weight by your side, lifting your head to see the familiar ginger, you watched a small yellow butterfly flutter onto the tip of his ear, your nose twitched, and it landed on your nose. You blinked for a moment at it, letting it flutter away peacefully as it left.
