"Swan, you idiot."
A broken Regina mumbled from her huddled position in bed, a constant flow of tears trickling down her cheeks. It'd been two days and the brunette couldn't bring herself to stop crying, hell she couldn't bring herself to get out of bed, that's where she'd been since it happened, bed. Both nights the former queen had cried herself to sleep, both nights the scene of Emma disappearing before her eyes haunted her dreams.

Red puffy eyes were fixed on the dagger that lay across her bedside table, god did she miss that woman, the only person to truly understand her, gone. There was nothing more she wanted right now than to see the smile of the savior, to see the golden hair that flowed like a waterfall. There's a reason why things never worked with Robin, and now that reason is gone, and the worst part was Regina never realized her love for the sheriff till it was too late.

She'd had enough.
Enough of this, enough of crying herself to sleep, enough of replaying over and over the darkness taking over Emma. It was time to summon the Dark One.

The brunette pushed the duvet off her body and rose from the bed, quickly she changed into something decent before grabbing the dagger and heading out to the car.
Regina drove for about 15 minutes before she came to the forests edge, with the dagger still in hand, the mayor made a hike deep into the pine jungle, far away from the town where hopefully no one could find her.
When she came to a small clearing, Regina stopped in her tracks and lowered her head to look at the dagger she still carried, lifting it slightly the brunette examined the detail that danced across the silver material, then the name - the beautiful name - that was etched into its surface. She felt more tears form in her eyes but quickly blinked them away as she rose the dagger above her head, and with a shaky voice she spoke.

"Dark One, I summon thee..."

Silence. No birds to be heard, no wind through the trees, but most importantly, no one else to be heard. She tried again.

"Dark One, I summon th--"

"Hey Regina..."

That voice, that oh so familiar voice, the voice that made Regina's heart flutter at every word because it's the most beautiful voice she could ever hear. She quickly spun around, not even trying to force back the grin that had spread across her face or the tears of joy that had begun to spill.

"Emma..."

The pair stared at each other for a moment, Regina relishing in the presence of the other woman, her goofy smile growing with every passing second.

"I uh... How are you?"

Emma chuckled.

"I'm good, well as good as I can be, it's a bit of a battle fighting the darkness, sometimes I can't hold it down and it takes over... Which is why I don't want you to get too close, it's unpredictable and I don't want to hurt you Regina."

The brunettes smile faded, guilt and hurt once again flooding her heart. It should've been her, not Emma.

"You're such an idiot, why? Why did you have to do that? Everyone's devastated, I'm.... Devastated."

"I told you Regina, you have worked too hard to have your happiness destroyed. You can finally try and get things on track with Robin and--"

"Robin?--"
Regina interrupted.

"Emma I don't want Robin, can't you see?"

The blonde remained silent.

"There's a reason we haven't worked, why everything is so wrong between us--"

Regina had been slowly inching forward as she spoke, so much now she stood only a meter away from Emma.
She was about to start talking again when the blonde quickly spun away from Regina, hunching over with hands on her knees.

"Emma?"
Regina queried, worry and concern flooding her features.

"Regina you have to go... I can't, it's pushing back up I can't hold it down you have to go now.."
Tears found there way down rosy cheeks as Emma turned back to Regina who was probably crying just as much as she had the first night Emma was gone.

"Regina go!"
The younger woman yelled in fear for brunette. How she wanted her to stay but how she knew it would end oh so badly. Truth was, Emma wanted to see Regina just as badly. There was an underlying reason as to why Emma did what she did, not because it's what any good person would've done, but because she loved Regina. Hell, she loved that woman with all her heart. They had come so far since day one, Regina had come so far since day one and Emma was not going to let it all go to waste.

So they stood there, face to face, the darkness slowly inching it's way through the saviors body. It was now or never Regina thought to herself, but she couldn't bring herself to speak the three simple words that swarmed her brain.

"I'll fix this."
Was all she could manage, and Emma gave a small nod.
Regina was frozen in place a little longer, taking in the sight and beauty of the woman before her, for it could be the last time in a very long time. She then turned a began to walk away, as did Emma, still fighting the darkness.

Then, like a bomb had exploded inside of her, Regina turned back.

"Emma I love you!"

Silence.

Though almost completely dark again, Emma turned back to face Regina, and with her last ounce of good, she replied...

"I love you too."

And then she was gone, only cloud of smoke remaining.

And once again, Regina was alone.
