Ch. 2 •No Pressure•

Author's Note: Sorry if my art isn't too great. I was just doodling and decided hey I can use this for a chapter.

Finally after a full day at Skool I returned home, tired and a bit cautious. I was slightly worried that Dib kid would show up again and try once to rope me into exposing Zim.
I'm kinda regretting admitting that I believed him about the alien in class. The school was actually not far from my current dwelling so I decided to walk instead of having Kat come and get me, giving her time to monitor the area. I can't say that capturing Zim wouldn't make my job easier, but unless the Professor gives me the okay to bring an alien back to the lab I'm not going to do anything about it.
Some things are far scarier than a tiny green thing that screams a lot. I glanced across the street taking in the stench of the city. It wasn't pleasant but it was different than what I was used too. I had spent quite a long time living isolated from society everything here seemed quite foreign to me despite seeing it in films and in books.

I soon arrived home to the smell of coffee and took a deep sigh. Thank goodness I'm here in my comfort zone. Kat was in the kitchen as I walked in to investigate.

"Hey Kat, what's going on?" I asked. Kat was sitting on the kitchen table, staring out at the weird house across the street which I'm now most certain is Zim's house.

"Okay so when you were gone today. I snuck around and got a little scan on that place and it made my circuits go crazy! Like this is some really really advanced tech. Also some of it is made out of garbage...Which is really weird and doesn't quite make sense." Kat said, turning back.

"I see. Well I met the alien today."

"Oh great were you able to make some observations?"

"Yeah.... He's weird....Like really weird....Also dumb and a bit sadistic.....So I was able to write down 3 pages of notes at least." I said as I got a cup of coffee and sat at the table.

"That's good then! I got a message earlier saying that Professor Neutron is going to check in with you tonight about your progress." Kat said as she got a cup of coffee as well.

"He's waiting to call me tonight?"

"There was an incident in the lab, apparently one of your younger siblings mutated into a hideous blob monster and eventually exploded covering everything in radioactive goo. So it's been taking a while to get everything cleaned up." Kat explained in a casual and nonchalant manner as she sipped on coffee.

"I still have younger siblings? I thought they all died during our final training exam?" I blinked a bit in confusion.

"Apparently they made more after you graduated. I don't really know all the details. Anyway just be ready for him to call. I'm gonna make tamales for dinner." Kat said before getting up and and walking over to the fridge, still sipping her coffee.

"Yes tamales!" I pumped my fist in the air with a small smirk.

"Oh right, before Professor Neutron calls make sure you get a shower."

"But I'm not dirty." I sighed in annoyance as I stared at the little Kat.

"You still have to attend school again tomorrow so go get bath and brush your teeth!" Kat said sternly.

"But-.....Fine..." I walked off and went upstairs before entering the bathroom which was connected to my bedroom. I quickly showered and brushed my teeth before dressing in my silky smooth purple pajamas with little piggies on them. That's when I noticed something outside. I grabbed some binoculars from my closet and pulled the blinds on my window open just enough to see outside. Across the street I noticed Zim outside his house with a shovel. He appeared to be digging a hole or something.

'Is he gonna hide a body or something?'

I don't know why but my mind immediately decided to go morbid for some reason. I watched carefully as Zim took this small blinking purple object from his pocket and dropped it in the hole before proceeding to bury it. I had no idea what that was, but it definitely wasn't any kind of human device.
I continued to watch, pulling out my note pad in case something worth noting happens. As he was walking back towards his house a car drove past on it's way to one of the other houses and splashed water all over him causing him to scream in pain. My eyes widened a bit as I noticed steam actually coming off his body. The water was actually burning him?

'Interesting...'

I watched the alien limp back into the house before hearing Kat call me down for dinner. Making a mental note of what I saw I happily went downstairs and ate some deliciously spicy tamales. Things were a bit quiet after that with Kat watching a reality television show about people who shouldn't be married in the living room. I went back up to my room and decided to read until the Professor called. Eventually around nine my wrist watch began beeping. I quickly pressed the button and a hologram of the professor appeared.

"Greetings Riv. How was your first day of observations?" He asked.

"I wrote down quite a few observations. I'm having some mixed feelings about this assignment if I'm being honest." I decided to tell the professor.

"I know this is a difficult job Riv, but it is very important!"

"Sir that's not exactly what I was getting at...The alien is actually doesn't seem like too much of a threat....Maybe he's a little mean but uh...."

"This isn't about whether or not the alien is a threat Riv! This is about data! This about discovery! This about making sure I am awarded for all my hard research!!"

"But I'm the one doing all the work......"

"Ah ah ah! Now Riv without me you wouldn't even know there was an alien! Anyway! Keep up the good work! Email your findings to me whenever you're able and also... Something very important. If you fail the mission....like if the alien were to somehow....Oh I don't know.....die horribly in a freak accident which ruins our chances at further research. You will be immediately fired from your position as an agent and sent back to the lab to be dismantled." Professor Neutron said with a sickeningly sweet grin.

"What?" My jaw dropped and my body froze.

"You heard me Riv. If anything happens to that alien, you'll be melted down and used to create what will hopefully become something less disappointing. Anyway good luck on your mission!" Professor Neutron waved before suddenly signing off.

I just stood there in shock for a few moments just taking in the sheer horror of what I was just told before turning to my pillow and screaming into it.
