⁶ tainted glass

Start from the beginning

"okay, then i'll let you get to bed because you look tired" miles stated as he began to sit up from her bed, but madelyn weakly reached one of her long arms out, wrapping her hand around his wrist and pulling him back gently as she spoke,

"please stay, sleepover" she nearly slurred her words from being so tired, he looked down at her before looking back to the door, then back down at her, "okay, sleepover" he said with a small smile on his face,

miles jumped over madelyn swiftly while she still laid on her back, in the same exact position from earlier—-he laid beside her on his back as well, turning his head to look at her as she stared at the ceiling.

"miles... do you ever think of being one of the stars?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper, causing miles' face to morph into one of confusion, not even knowing what she meant by that.

"what? what does that even mean?" he asked while laughing at how stupid she sounded, which made her laugh slightly along with him, "it's a genuine question!" she raised her voice as they both laughed,

"but what does that even mean?" he asked once again while beginning to laugh his ass off, once the laughter died down between the two teenagers, madelyn found herself beginning to elaborate,

"like, do you imagine being in the sky and looking so small from earth, but actually being something so big in the universe, shining bright and staring down at everyone and everything" she rambled, miles still continued to stare at her in confusion before he spoke once again,

"that made so much sense but none at all at the same time" he said while starting to laugh once again, which made madelyn shake her head as she laughed as well—-turning her head to face the boy laying next to her.

their eyes locked.

"i think you're a star" she blurted, making miles' brows raise as he stared at the girl just an inch away from him, "how so?" he asked as a small smirk began to form on his face,

"you shine so bright that it's almost like you suck the energy away from the things around you" she whispered, miles examined her facial features that he could hardly make out in the dark, staring her entire face up and down, from top to bottom.

"yeah?" he asked in a whisper, madelyn examining his facial features that were illuminated by the moonlight cracking through her window as she responded, "yeah..." she trailed off, both of them just staring at each other.

and madelyn didn't know why she started doing it, but she could feel herself leaning into the boy that was laying just beside her in her bed.

miles didn't lean in, but he also didn't lean away either.

madelyn got to a point where she was a centimeter away from him, their eyes locking, her heart was beating so fast in her chest that she was convinced miles could hear it too.

there was a burning in her lower stomach, and it hasn't left since miles came home.

she leaned in a little more, feeling her lips hardly brush against his, she felt his hands sliding up her body and moving to her chest...

but then, they were pushing her off before their lips could make full contact as her back fell against the bed roughly.

miles was angry.

madelyn felt pure embarrassment wash over her face, she knew she was stupid for ever even letting the thought come into her mind that miles would ever want to kiss her or do anything with her—

"—are you high?!" he shouted at her, leaning over the bed and turning the lamp for the first time since he came into the room, staring down at madelyn who finally had her eyes wide, they were completely bloodshot.
