I'd Like To Say

For years I wanted to say something but could never get it out
Your beauty had me sprung, but you I knew nothing about
Whether you know it or not you've always controlled my life
Just a glance of your eyes had me thinking of you the whole night
Loving you wasn't a mistake, I was just a waste
Drifting further from you with each problem I faced
Hoping for love, but choked at every chance
We've been at a few dances yet I never asked you to dance
I know nothing about you except your physical appearance
I tried to show affection but there was too much interference
Gifts are my way of expression and writing poems is another
But talking to girls, that's something I never learned from my mother
For years I've just watched and was amazed by the view
But for years I've wanted to tell you that I really love you.
